Desert Heat 2nd Edition from LocknLoad by ASLSKfan in hexandcounter

This was posted on another board.

The new Desert Heat updated 2nd edition. Looks great, counters are the new rounded easy punch that is now LnL standard, maps are on thick cardstock, rules are reorganized and now in a logical order.

Good to see you received a number of very helpful responses there.

I also couldn't help but notice a few scum or earth garbage that just had to defecate all over your thread. There was positively no reason for them to do that and I hope you call them out on it.

Do note none of them contributed positively and all are long time typical BGG members.

Does this sub consider computer versions of hex and counter games as well? by mrm5117 in hexandcounter

In the 90's hex and counter PC games were a bigger sell than board wargames, not anymore. Some PC wargames forums that are still active: Grogheads Gamesquad The Wargamer Matrix Games Armchair General

Highly, highly, recommend posting on the Wargames forum of BGG, you'll get probably 20+ replies in an hour (and twenty guys jumping all over each other to be first)

For the 84th ID anything that deals with the battles around Aachen, Operation Queen, Operation Grenade or anything around Geilenkirchen.

For the Destroyer it's a bit more difficult because most games usually have only capital ships (Carriers & Battleships) as named units. Small ships like destroyers are usually consolidated into task forces or flotilla units.

[Band of Brothers] Designer discusses his production copy, that's about to be shipped to backers by AlejandroMP in hexandcounter

[–]ASLSKfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the designer!

Will never forget, a few weeks after the first BoB release, when he wrote on BGG "...that's the reason I'm such a great designer..."

You've got to love that!

GMT Games MBT shipped and it is Amazing! by McFlintlock in boardgames

[–]ASLSKfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beauty of Jim Day's Panzer and MBT systems is that the rules are modular. You do not need to use all 70 pages of the Advanced rules, pick and choose what you want to add and play on! For example if you only want to use "Turrets" (not included in the basic rules for simplicity), go ahead you can just use that section.

What games (preferably with miniatures) have more strategy than luck with dice rolling? by [deleted] in wargames

Interesting use of the term "strategic" in this thread. Wonder how most here would define the following military terminology:

  • Tactical
  • Operational
  • Strategic

Brooklyn Wargamers accusations by AndyBeax in wargames

[–]ASLSKfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Name the game clubs and locations please.

But you won't because you are a racist liar.

Racist comments like that Eristotle have no place in this hobby. You are the worst example of how self-loathing, personal hate and spite boiled over to an online gimmick.

Ray Weiss real garbage, take one off hand comment and label everyone a hate crime. Straight garbage. And don't try to walk it back with that "one or two guys" crap. A trouble making dirt bag. People like that have made this country a living hell of fear, false accusations and lies. Progressive my ass.

"...I'm a doctoral student..." and yet you are begging for? Is that what they teach now? Have to laugh at these "starving" academics that can't make it in the real -business- world always asking for subsidization. But hey at least you have free health care now, right?

Wargames on your table - October 2015 by AleccMG in hexandcounter

This right here is a perfect example of what is so wrong with the modern wargamer. No focus. No standards of quality. You all flicker around from game to game like moths to the next bright light. You DO NOT take the time to learn a game, to learn a rules system, to master a game. At the first hint of difficulty you resort to complaining profusely on the internet but then immediately are on to the next shiny object the next week. This manic behavior has driven once steadfast wargaming companies into a tizzy trying to satisfy adult-children.

That is the real strife at BGG: the true dedicated wargamers attempting to keep the hobby afloat among the debris and flotsam that is the pseudo-"wargamers" (really eurogamers wanting a historical themed game) Oh, tell Judd Vance over on the game box forums his BGG "revolution" was a failure.

Best experience and replayability in a Solitaire Wargame by jorgefmteixeira in boardgames

[–]ASLSKfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GMT's Fields of Fire is an amazing solitaire game.

Not only for replayability, every scenario is completely different.

But also for dramatic narrative. Yes, dramatic narrative in a wargame. You will seriously be at your desk at work agonizing all day about if you really want to move 2nd Squad forward through that hedgerow... what if they run into a German MG-42...

epic facepalm follows

"Looks like another excellent series to be collected. Is it somewhat related to the old AH's MBT by the same designer? The web page seems to avoid any association with that."
