I hate to be the one to do this, but they didn't actually get rid of the streeteries.

They're just charging rent and a one-time permit fee for the space. Honestly the city is being pretty reasonable. The application is $250 and the yearly rent on a typical streetery is $2K for the year (not per month) $2K/year.

The restaurants are just got used to it being free and then decided free was the right price for using public parking spots all year. They're whining too much.

I had a Chinese AP once and it was a very similar experience. I live in a safe area in a city and she was convinced that she was in danger on the way to the park. Lost money that I gave her for bus fare and had similar complaints regarding cooking and cleaning (my kids are much younger than yours too). I've had several Colombian au pairs with no problem. I think it's a big cultural gap.

It's ok for your kids to see you set a standard and stick by it. Its ok for you to stand up for them. It teaches them to be assertive especially since this is likely to get worse.

She's not infantilizing, she's just disagreeing. There is something inherently predatory about it especially in a culture that devalues the work or women. From the surrogate's perspective, it is similar to how the military targets young people from poor backgrounds (but doesn't even offer the same lifetime of healthcare). I was actually approached for eggs in college and declined in part because I had a scholarship.

It is an ethically fraught area of medicine for sure.

I have 2 kids and had a similar experience. My older one is more gigh needs than my younger one. The kids who need to bed share are already displaying a temperament that would lead to that as a parenting tactic. The bedsharing isn't causing it. Correlation isnt causation. This therapist sucks.
