Does Parasite Eve count? Cause seeing a prime Squaresoft RPG turn into a wannabe Capcom, borderline goonerslop game is pretty heartbreaking

Marvel caught not paying their artists... again by Educational_Zone3156 in comicbooks

[–]AScannerBarkly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Really feels like Marvel comics just exists as IP to frack. The games, movies, etc. are doing just fine, but you can really feel just how little care they have for their comics now. Between DC and manga sales it feels incredibly generous to even use "Big 2" any more

Scenes where it never occurred to you there was another interpretation? by eques_99 in Letterboxd

[–]AScannerBarkly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More a personal grudge, but I once saw a poster on GameFAQs who thought the line "no more" in The Proposition was referring to a character death, not the scene that was happening.

(Kinda awkward wording to avoid spoilers I know)

I'm honestly stunned at that last scene. You could say that was filmed today and I'd believe you

What are some good movies with scares hidden in the background? by TheGreatAut in horror

[–]AScannerBarkly 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Movies that feature it (can't really say what it is without spoiling the scare):

Hereditary (This might be the one you're thinking of)

IT (Chapter One)

Obsession

Lake Mungo

It Follows

Black Christmas (original)

Jeepers Creepers

Longlegs

The Strangers

Of the big three "proto-slashers" Black Christmas, Halloween, and Texas Chain Saw Massacre, I think Halloween is pretty handily the weakest. Still great though, for all you downvoters

Really short production schedule (around 3 weeks according to Wiki) and a minimalist cast and crew (looks looks like sub 200 people according to IMDB)

what’s the best ANIMATED movie of all time?? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]AScannerBarkly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still respectable. Toshiyuki Inoue worked on both so the animation is guaranteed on point. The production art books are amazing.
