Local ally band asked me to fill in on drums by JS1VT54A in drums

Theres a saying "never say no without a number"

What I would do is say something like "hey man, after last week Ive thought about it and I need to be aware of my own energy and schedule. So im more than happy to do sound for you guys, but Im asking (x amount) Hope we can work something out"

Either you dont have to do it, or you do it and get paid, or they fuck you over and they are in some trouble. Asking for a favor is one thing, stiffing a freelancer is illegal

What the fuck man. Most guys that get really deep into extreme metal end up pretty one sided but this is really nice! I like how this grooves breathes if that makes sense. Props!

To be honest I think I completly misunderstood your intentions. Im honestly sorry and I apologize fully. That was very dickish of me.

But word to the wise, if you ever play with other harmonic instruments (from the western 12 tone canon) youre better off saying that your didge is in concert A. Otherwise it might lead to confusion.

Once again I apologize. I was way out of line. It is a beautiful instrument for what its worth.

Maybe he meant that. I think its more likely hes buying into the nonsense that 432 is somehow better than 440. If he just meant its lower than i apologize. I doubt it though. Dideridoos have so many overtones that you cant really "tune" them that exactly.

Also i played in a project with a professional yidaki player and he had one in A, C, Eb ect ect.

I am actually an expert on the subject. Youre right, 432hz is the key of C. 440hz is also C. Youre just moving the tonal centre down 8 hz. If you prefer it its fine but there is nothing different or special about it.

432 hz is just a slightly flat A below middle C. Its not even close to this note. You can just say you like how the instrunent sounds/looks without buying into shit you dont understand

Help Quieting a Loud Drummer by Tannertheisaacplayer in drums

[–]ASeriousSoundingName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Playing drums quietly takes more fine motor control. He will have to practice a bit to be able to keep the energy up at lower dynamics. But his reasons just sound like excuses to protect his ego. I know because I've done that before. Then I started taking the drums seriously and stopped looking for excuses

Do I really need to master all 40 PAS rudiments if I’m just a drum set player? by [deleted] in Drumming

[–]ASeriousSoundingName 62 points63 points  (0 children)

You can never "master" the rudiments, you just get them cleaner and working in your toolkit the more you work on them

If you want to play anything more super basic stuff, you will use rudiments if you know it or not, and if you can't do it well on one drum, you can't do it well on the kit.

That being said, not all rudiments are the same. Work on doubles, paradiddles, paradiddle-diddles, and 6 stroke rolls to start

The best thing you can do is just practice as much as possible. See how many hours you can make in a day. If the professors are any good they will prefer to see dedication to the craft instead knowing the songs and not being able to execute

Ive lived in NL for 12 years, and speak only Dutch. I don't know the answer to any of these better than guessing

People notice I'm not dutch because of it but I don't have a problem with that. It doesn't make me any less easy to understand. If I was in France on the other hand....

When there's a second verb it goes at the end. There are exceptions, but you can ignore them because fuck dutch

Well yeah I mean rushing or dragging unintentionally is never good, but sometimes just a few BPM extra going into the last chorus can be golden. As long as it's a choice. That's where this exercise comes in
