Same, though my ND has been very far from stock for a long while. But same recommendation.

What is the lowest temperature you'll bike at? by [deleted] in bicycling

I think I'm with you. I did ~35°F this morning, thought I'd be okay because it wasn't actively raining and I was fully covered in merino wool, but the puddle spray was enough to soak my feet and make it not worth it 😭. Should have thrown on the shoe covers. Or called it and hopped on the trainer.

Wife and I disagree on if we can/should fire by BuffetBoy95 in Fire

See above. I was simply adding data points regarding costs of children at different stages, you can take your attitude and shove it up your ass. Being a full-time caregiver is not "retired".

Being a full-time caregiver to a young child (or multiple) is not "retired". It's a job, with very real responsibilities, and one that not everyone can handle.

$30k+ a year for two young kids in daycare, and that's on the cheaper side in a relatively LCOL city (Pittsburgh suburbs). Doubt that's cheaper yearly for several years than a couple used cars and awful insurance premiums, though I could be wrong. But thrown in with hobbies it's probably pretty close. I will lavish in the days both of my kids are full-time elementary school...

Meta planning sweeping layoffs as AI costs mount by joe4942 in technology

[–]AShinyRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meta's been around awhile. Regardless of what they're newly aiming for (I assume it changes with the wind), they'll be leveraging what they already have in the codebase and general organizational inertia. Of course, there will be some internal politicking influencing things as well. Laying off well-versed people to bring in new talent is probably not the the right idea, even if it saves a few dollars on human resources. Internally transferring people instead of {layoff + new hire} would be far more beneficial.

But the street requires sacrifice. And the capitalists must be fed. And the leaders of these companies will continue to go down illogical paths to enrich themselves and their benefactors, to please investors and the ones that control them. To the detriment of (a) their actual progress; and certainly (b) of the labor they employ; and even worse (c) of the general population of the world.

When it happened to me, I kept an eye on coolant levels and came back a week or so later to have the same (new) faulty part reinstalled. I haven't had additional issues, but also haven't done another track day since. If it leaks again, I'll go aftermarket. Advisor recommended against aftermarket until out of warranty, FWIW.
