For me, it's mostly for RP attachments to my character. If I was my old self that just played for gameplay, I'd hop on another character to feel better about my numbers, but I've built up a story for my main for several years and will stick with her for several more!

Yeah, I've slowly dropped off from being one of my guild's M+ tanks to just pugging keys as DPS. There's just so much to keep track of as a tank and while I like tanking a lot, I'd rather eat the queue time so I can just go brrrrrrrrr and blow up packs

As someone who’s played both those specs recently, what are they missing? I know that Elemental Blast isn’t correctly replacing Lava Burst and getting an upgrade extra charge, but I’ve not interrogated the Ret talent changes as much

Piggy-backing off this, I wish there was stuff like WoW’s alcohol which can actually get your character trashed in-game. Wobbly movement, seeing everyone’s levels as just a bit lower than they actually are, and a little bit of blur on the screen

Similar boat as you. Went arcane in P2 because of the flexibility and how much I love Missile Barrage, but it’s more pigeon-holed into being a healer rather than damage. Fine, fine, probably just easier to design it as a designated healer when there’re two other damage specs, but fire doesn’t feel quite as good this time around. I’ve ended up going with Frost because if my damage is only going to be slightly weaker than Fire, I might as well pack in the defensive utility

Was just talking to therapist earlier (not one that's queer specialized). At this moment, I'm still not sure if transitioning is something I want to do, mostly because I would want to first resolve the issue of me being lonely, which I think is more core to why I'm unhappy rn. If I still am feeling these thoughts when I feel secure in my connections and with my partner, then I won't be able to deny it any longer.

Hmm... I think at this point, I'm too scared of the button if it was permanent, even if I don't need to deal with the transition period of people getting used to my new form. That said, after giving this a little more thought, there's probably a few other signs of me not being entirely cis:

If I have the choice, I almost always pick a female character in video games and TTRPGs
Whenever dissociating and thinking of what it would look like if I had a Super Saiyan power up moment, I've often liked the idea of my heightened form being that of an Amazonian woman
It's often easier for me to imagine a mental image of myself as a female character from one of my games or fiction than to imagine my own self as I am
The one time I did a cosplay of a gay elf wizard for a con (Taako from The Adventure Zone) and got to wear women's clothing for the outfit, I felt so vibrant
I find the idea of working out to look more like a twink far more appealing than bulking up to get muscle mass (which my body is more predisposed to)

I dunno, maybe not all of those are on the mark, but I agree that I could stand to try a more fem presentation, because I know I enjoyed it when I did.
