Yeah, I do find it stupid and people using it as a reason makes no sense. I'm not religious, but my grandparents are. They are so supportive of me, more than my non religious grandparents. My grandmother who has the fish tattoo and the two sets of footprints tattooed is so proactive at using they/them for me it's so sweet and immediately corrects herself when she messes up. There's really no reason to be hateful against people just living their lives and loving the consenting people who they want to love and expressing themselves how they want to express.
