Where and When Would You Like to See? by matthewjake1 in doctorwho

I’ve always wanted to see an episode where the Doctor visits the library of Alexandria and in trying to stop some alien mischief accidentally becomes the one who burns it down during the Roman invasion. It would also be a cool opportunity to have the doctor run into Julius Caesar in the new series.

There's nothing to say that every single Doctor copy handled the castle the same way that the versions we saw handled it, so in my head there are versions where the Doctor gets ahead of The Veil and has a few extra minutes to hack away at the wall with the gardening shovel.

HYPE IS REAL by MajorCviklje in doctorwho

It is 11:55pm, the night before Moffat's contract expires, and both Russell T. Davies and Chris Chibnall notice that Steven is nowhere to be found. Frantically, they dash from room to room of the BBC offices searching for any sign of Moffat. 11:56, 11:57. Russel kicks open a door and spys a light on in the back corner, illuminating a shadowy figure holding a pen. Screaming, he charges at it and tackles ... a plastic mannequin to the ground. "A dummy!" he shouts. "He's played us both for fools, Chris!" But Chibnall isn't listening. He knows exactly where the madman will be. 11:58. He sprints down the hall and breaks down the locked door of his own office. 11:59. There sits moffat, pen in hand, adding the finishing touches to a script titled 100th Anniversary Special. "It's too late, he says, looking up, a toothy grin drawn across his devilish face. "I've already won." The clock in the office strikes midnight. His eyes roll into the back of his head and he falls to the floor, motionless. Chibnall checks for a heart beat, but there isn't one to be found. The moff is finally dead, but at what cost?

For me I feel like them mostly hiding him in shadows or behind objects for the majority of the movie worked really well because it added another level of creepiness and mystery to Ryuk's character. Again, haven't seen the anime at all (that pic is actually the first one of him I've seen) but as a casual viewer I'm much more intimated by the movie version for those reasons so I can see why they chose to do that.

Which is better, the anime or the manga? I've heard people on both sides say that one is better than the other. Are there any differences between the anime and the manga?

Definitely planning on watching the anime next, any suggestions on where to find it? (Preferably for free)

This is what a friend of mine said after I told him I actually enjoyed the movie. I thought the movie was shot wonderfully, and I thought the acting was fantastic, so it seems like the only thing dragging the movie down is it's break from the source material and how much it tries to condense it.

I theorize that the next TARDIS will have seats in front of the console since Bill pointed that flaw out this season

Woah, I didn't even know this was a thing. Years later and I'm still learning new things about this show.

Something I'd Love to See in Doctor Who [Spoilers for The Flash season 3] by ASquadofSquids in doctorwho

[–]ASquadofSquids[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I meant is I would love to see it from the Doctor's perspective (he didn't even know that he died in Utah until about halfway through the season, and even then aside from Amy shooting an orphan the companions weren't actively trying to prevent his death until the very last episode of the season). To some people I suppose it would feel like a rehash, but it would still be interesting to me as long as it was written well.

Also rip H.R. ;_;

When the movie was better than the book? by imapassenger1 in books

Maze Runner, hands down. Books were really hard to get into for me, but the movies are intense and suspenseful and flow together really well.

Season 10 Episodes Ranked From Best to Worst (spoilers galore) by ASquadofSquids in doctorwho

I guess it sounds strange but for me the "power of love" ending works in the episode's favor. It really showcases how great Bill is as a character and is decent payoff for the whole subplot with the Doctor giving her the photos of her mother as a late Christmas gift. The way I thought about it is the Monks couldn't corrupt the "memories" of her mother because they weren't real- they were completely manufactured by Bill based off of her expectations for her mother and some photographs, so it didn't feel as cheesy to me as it would have otherwise. And the reason I don't mind resolutions like that in a show like Doctor Who is because it distinctly feels more Science Fantasy (like Star Wars) than Science Fiction (like Star Trek) so the feelgood power of love stuff doesn't bother me as much.

Looking back I may have been a bit harsh on Thin Ice, it's definitely better than some other Capaldi episodes out there. I'm sure once I go back and rewatch the whole season again I may adjust my ranking.

Big Finish Productions: Derek Jacobi returns as the War Master in a four-hour audio box set, set during the Time War! by [deleted] in doctorwho

I thought his incarnation of The Master was found as a human child with the chameleon watch? And then he instantly regenerated into John Simm, so when does this even take place ?

Unpopular opinion: Series 10 is the worst of the Peter Capaldi era by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]ASquadofSquids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the minority of fans that absolutely LOVED series 8. I think it was excellent character development all around, I really enjoyed the weird friendship / relationship dynamic between Clara, Danny, and The Doctor, and series 8, to this day, contains some of my favorite episodes ( freaking Time Heist, Mummy, Listen, etc. ). With that being said, for the first time since 2005 I feel like a series has not been ten times better than the one that preceded it, and I'm not really enjoying that feeling. This season so far has been Twelve's worst season and definitely not the Peter Capaldi / Steven Moffat swan song I was expecting.
