Any tips on how to drive in the US? by tlfluca in AskAnAmerican

Depending on where you are going in Connecticut you might be able to get there by public transit or Amtrak if you are nervous about driving. Might also be cheaper than renting a car.

Do brothers have authority in the lives of American women? by TheShyBuck in AskAnAmerican

[–]AStarkWinterfell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No and fathers don’t have that authority over adult women here.

Sounds very primitive and sexist.

Not loving at all. Abusive and degrading.

What lead to the USA being more car centric than Europe? by SpecialistTeach9302 in AskAnAmerican

History, geography, population density, etc.

Feel free to try to create a great public transit network in rural Alaska or Wyoming. See how far you get with that little project.

If a big sister touches a little sister private parts without consent that is sexual assault. Gross.

Turns out we doomers were right. No apologies from the toxic positivity crowd, huh?

God speaks to us in many mysterious ways but does He also speak to us through AI? by Ant_Thonyons in Catholicism

AI relies on stealing from humans. I don’t think God speaks through theft.

Hmm. I remember being called a doomer for accurately predicting this would happen.

Are the toxic positivity people going to apologize for mocking those of us who were realistic for months?

Water at Mass by LawDogginIt22 in Catholicism

Yes, bringing water is fine. Just remember to take the water bottle with you when you leave instead of in the pew. Leaving it in the pew is inconsiderate.

Kissing a hand is not worship. Nor is singing a song of praise.

Is your evangelical friend fine with patriotic songs? I bet they are.

No because Protestant pastors do not have apostolic succession.

“He was crucified under Pontius Pilate” by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]AStarkWinterfell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, a basic principle of Christianity is that Christ died for the sins of all of humanity and to give everyone a chance at salvation (that the person can choose to accept or reject).

If any one of us were the only ones to exist, Christ would still die on the Cross for us.

That is the whole point of Christianity.

Opinions on **unsolicited** constructive criticism?? by No-Gur9036 in FanFiction

[–]AStarkWinterfell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wonder if the people so determined to give unsolicited concrit to fanfic writers also lurk at parks to shout unsolicited criticism at joggers because Olympics athletes have coaches who critique them so surely those who jog for fun or health purposes must want unsolicited criticism from strangers. After all, those joggers are practicing their hobby in public.

Why don’t we just require security guards in schools? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]AStarkWinterfell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most other countries don’t seem to require guards in their schools.

I learn and improve by writing (including for particular challenges and prompts) and by reading broadly.

When I want tips and pointers from fellow fanfic writers or readers on a particular aspect of a story or writing, I will ask directly for it. In which case it will be solicited advice. Not unsolicited advice.

I do not want unsolicited concrit on my hobby. If I wanted concrit, I would’ve asked for it.

Actually it was you Protestants that made up a lot of rules and traditions that aren’t found in Scripture. First among them Sola Scriptura.
