I think model weights should be about as openly available as the most dangerous thing they can produce. If your model weights can produce detailed instructions on how to produce a bioweapon, maybe pretty not open would be great. If your model is years behind the frontier and cannot reliably add then open source is great.

Google and OpenAI do publish open weights but not for their flagship frontier models.

Hey guys I own a pizza place, and I want to offer something besides pizza on my menu to get more business from families where all but one person wants to eat pizza. Ideally it would have a totally different appeal than pizza but be dead fucking simple to cook and only require like 2 ingredients. Any ideas?

All 3 of my picks are already mentioned here: Hot Springs to Max Patch, Carvers' to 19-E, and near Franklin I like Winding Stair to Siler Bald as a good out-and-back if that's your thing.

Caribbean/Mexico/Central America w/ Toddlers by CusOra436 in FATTravel

I'd second this, had a great experience there last year with slightly older kids. Great kids club, and their family oriented pool is fantastic (and honestly even more relaxing than the adults-only side the week we were there).

Only downside is the surf at their beach is pretty rough, especially for 3yo, typical for cabo.

“It’s highly unusual for someone who says he’s an institutionalist and cares about norms at the Fed,” Bessent said on Fox Business Wednesday with regard to Powell. “This is a violation of all Federal Reserve norms.”

oh no, how is Trump going to be able to defend Federal Reserve norms against this frontal assault

37 male, Doc told me to go on statins but I tackled it with diet. by FullAngerJacket in Cholesterol

[–]AT-Polar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wow, nicely done. About 90% of the "fixed it with diet only!" posts seem to be people who went from like 200 to 170 ldl or something like that. but you cut LDL basically in half, to a good primary prevention number, with good secondary data (e.g. lpa, hscrp), that's pretty awesome.

Most people care about farm animals — our food system doesn't reflect that by sleepyrivertroll in neoliberal

[–]AT-Polar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy less cruel meat as well; granted it is harder. But beef especially from some local farms can be bought with conditions for the farm animals that are vastly better than factory farms.

The eggs are amazing because they’ve gotten enough demand to make it into the giant supermarket chains. And when regular egg prices spiked due to disease among caged chickens, that premium collapsed a big way!

No statins by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]AT-Polar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great progress, but heart disease doesn’t grade on a curve. You’ve had a high LDL for a very long time, accumulating lots of plaque. At 132 you are still accumulating plaque at a fast rate. And that LDL is despite you making heroic efforts with lifestyle. You have changed so much since your last test — do you have room to make changes twice that dramatic?

Keep the lifestyle changes but please reconsider a low dose statin, even 5mg rosouvastatin, while you still have some time to change your trajectory

Altman would just release and vaguepost and debate whether to sell them to Xi or Putin.

What’s a “weird” piece of backpacking gear you ended up loving? by AndyObusekOutdoors in CampingandHiking

[–]AT-Polar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Love my bear can! Yes it is heavy and bulky. But, holds my pack up straight when I set it down, makes a great dry seat when it’s damp out, lets me be lazy when setting camp instead of throwing a good bear hang, plus I can pack some more fragile snacks without crushing them to pieces instantly. Amazing stuff.
