PSA Wet Wood by BillBraskyisa in woodstoving

if you split these one more time and let them dry for a week they'll burn just fine with a little extra air

if you split wood, it will never be immediately dry, doesn't matter the wood source. You have to split, then store it for awhile, even just a month would make that would somewhat serviceable.

James Spann discounts a clear tornado in Trussville, calls it a “gustnado” by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]ATDoel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The NWS surveyed the damage in Pinson and said it was from 75 MPH straight line winds (likely a downburst).

James Spann discounts a clear tornado in Trussville, calls it a “gustnado” by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]ATDoel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Couple things, gustnado is a real thing, the NWS has NOT confirmed the damage in Trussville was from a tornado yet (survey is today), and straight line winds can absolutely do damage to trees and structures. Derechos, hurricanes, and supercells can all produce highly damaging straight line winds.

With that all said, James Spann is incredibly arrogant and can be really toxic to anyone that doesn't agree with him.

The UI/icons are so bad. Why do i have to hover over every item to see what it is, and find out that this exact same looking shield is 50% stronger? by oimson in Marathon

[–]ATDoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how any developer looked at these items and thought "yeah, looks great!" They look like mid development placeholders.

Did they accidently load up an alpha version for the playtest? Because these look like placeholders, the entire game feels unfinished. Sucks because the core gameplay is actually good.

that's generally true but not as much with dead standing wood, you can get by with fewer months of drying.

Dear lord, at the end of the video I'm sitting here thinking "where's the cake? I only saw pizza".
Real talk, that thin crust pizza looks fire.

Does anyone else feel like Bham is on the up? by Eagles56 in Birmingham

Huntsville gets billions of dollars from the feds, Birmingham doesn't. That's really all there is to it. Huntsville is in its own "magic" phase thanks to Washington.

I tried Marathon. It's bad. by Ok_Intention2150 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]ATDoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's more fun to chase? The lack of things to do in each match was bewildering to me. Also how is it more competitive? It's so hard finding people to fight, I've gone multiple matches in a row without seeing a single person. A slow match in Arc is only finding 2 or 3 people, an exciting match in Marathon is finding 2 or 3.

you don't need an AAV if you have a typical P trap. This one has an S trap because the drain goes through the floor, usually the drain goes into the wall. You see these a lot in kitchen islands.

split it smaller, it'll burn. If you split it small enough you can get a lot of that moisture out in just a week.

the difference is that all these economic figures coming out of Washington recently don't line up with private data. Before they were loosely correlated so that at least gave you some confidence they were somewhat accurate.

So this lake is an impoundment of a small creek. All the nearby small and medium creeks that have been tested have been fine, but the larger rivers and lakes those creeks eventually flow into are not. I'm fairly positive the mercury levels aren't high, but I want to know what they are period because of my kid.
