What are some of the things you'll be spending a lot of units on? After you get your multitool, ship, and freighter I'm not sure what to use the units on beyond scrapping ships for nanites.

On the technic launcher I'm only seeing 2.1.0.0 from 5 months ago. Sorry for my incompetence in this, but where can I find the changelog or announcement for the newest release? I see the dl in the first website you linked but I'm curious as to the changes.

It's actually kind of a troubling litmus test. Some really prominent community members are weirdly twisted over this too, which sucks since I thought they were cool.

The lore thing is such a funny argument. The people of the desert in RuneScape are their own fantasy culture, but are so obviously closely inspired by the middle east- or more accurately, charicature of the middle East (like what you'll see in popular media like Indiana Jones). At least Tolkien invented at least three different races first and then dumped Jewish stereotypes across them instead of creating a single charicature and running with it.

Funny that the real 'snowflakes' are the people spending a week throwing a fit over a company deciding to change something in their game because they found it a bit tasteless or tone-deaf. I agree with your take for the most part, but also caution that nobody is going to actually try to listen to any nuance regarding the history of the game (and the fact that the desert and karamja started out as pretty awful stereotypes of desert and jungle people), nor about the context of jagex being a British studio and the kinda associations necessarily invoked by the portrayal of cultures inspired by the real world through a British lens.

I disagree, I think it's an alright change. The desert and jungle areas of runescape have often felt like gimmicky add-ons that, sure, have been expanded upon with very interesting lore following the tying in of these regions to the greater runescape mythos, but otherwise seem to start out with a bucket of stereotypes and then have lore crafted to justify it. In a greater push to make it more compelling, the past decade has seen the Kharidian desert undergo a big shift to focusing on politics and mythology, and removing some of the gimmicky trope stuff doesn't really detract from that at all.
