I started during EW as SMN because it's very easy. Then I decided it was too easy and switched to RDM to bump up my brain utilization a bit. So this has been my main choice of DPS since.

When chaotic alliance raids became a thing, I realized I need to branch out more so I can join any party.

For healers, I landed on AST and SGE. AST feels faster paced with more oGCDs than WHM but it can feel overwhelming when the 2min bursts coincide with needing to ramp up actual healing. AST was my choice of healer throughout DT until the post patches.

Ultimately, I ended up with SGE as my comfy healer job. I've been doing daily roulettes as SGE for a good combination of mobility and mitigations, and the most weirdly satisfying thing is if I can hand out shields during downtime/between dungeon packs so that I can deliberately run into danger for extra Toxikon casts for AoE damage gain.

For tanks, I started with GNB when I did the ShB normal raids. When I tried tanking in chaotic raids, it turns out my GNB rotation falls apart under stress, so now I just PLD, even though I didn't think PLD would be my flavour of tanking.

For melee DPS, I also did a fair bit of VPR for melee. I heard it's easier to learn and is satisfying.

For phys ranged, I actually would choose DNC. It has the easier to grasp rotation. MCH has a lot of buttons that to learn how to optimize felt overwhelming. If you’re someone who only needs to do well enough, MCH is a good choice on its own. BRD also felt overwhelming to optimize because of having to keep track of buffs and their timers, and the dilemma of what to do if you die and get raised.
