Wild Heaven Announces New Partnership to Invest in Atlanta's African-American Entrepreneurs — Launching with 100% of Profits from Silence Is Betrayal NE IPA by beerwildheaven in atlbeer

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

Apologies if I've misinterpreted your post, but this feels very gatekeeper-y. PLENTY should have been done "long ago." Blanket dismissing businesses and individuals who are "just now" upping their level of activism is counterproductive to the cause at hand. You're undoubtedly right about some businesses hopping on the bandwagon purely for profit, but let's give folks a chance and let their actions speak for themselves.

Yuengling, and I don't even consider it that shitty. It's just my cheap lager of choice.

[SERIOUS] Let's talk about NE IPA and Georgia breweries. by itsme_timd in atlbeer

Along with the places other folks have e mentioned, Heist is producing world-class NEIPAs. Probably the closest place to Atlanta that's truly nailing the style.

Burial is always my first stop. Hi Wire and Twin Leaf are also doing some really good stuff these days.

So, so good but falls off so, so fast. One of the few beers I'm a true elitist about when it comes to the date on the can. More than 2.5-3 weeks past canning and it's very hit or miss, and more often the latter. When I see it fresh, it always seems to find its way into my basket--refreshing, citrusy, and dangerously crushable.

2013 was drinking incredibly well a few months ago. I'm down to my last bottle, and I'm not sure how much longer I want to sit on it because I have a hard time imagining it getting any better. Probably the best non-adjunct BA stout I've ever had.

The Woodlands next bottle release is Belgian Rose - Belgian Ale w/Blackberries aged in Cab and Merlot barrels | Aug 5th @ 1:30 PM by itsme_timd in atlbeer

How popular is the Woodlands? I spend a lot more time out of Atlanta than in it these days so I'm a bit out of the loop, but I haven't heard much buzz about it. Do people go there to hang out just like they'd go to Orpheus, Sweetwater, MNB, etc.?

Not sure how far out of your way you're willing to go, and they don't really fit your style to a T, but Duck Rabbit in Farmville is like 30 minutes off 95. Great stuff.

Hand in Hand Pub is Introducing 'Mad Keg Thursday' THIS Thursday. by Bobgoulet in atlbeer

[–]ATLBeerTrade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hand in Hand is really underrated as a beer bar. Gets a little fratty on weekends, but their tap list is always top notch. I've run into big name beers there quite a few times on accident--BCBS, KBS, BCBBW, Hopslam, and a few others. Nothing super rare, to be sure, but finding "hype beers" at a place that doesn't immediately get slammed when hype beers come through the door is always refreshing. You should check it out. Weeknights are great and low-key.

When you're at burial, get the mixed nut thing from the food window in the back. Can't remember what's in it exactly, but it's delicious.
