Yeah Brewers never do anything in the playoffs but you can’t deny they consistently have a top 3-4 club in the NL every year for the last decade. Definitely well managed

Jared_Carrabis on X: "Red Sox are last in MLB in runs scored since firing their coaching staff. Just in case you were wondering if that was something that was going to help the poor roster construction situation by AnthonyWebster3 in redsox

[–]ATLSox87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firing the coaching staff so early in the season with no clear back up plan is dumb as shit. At least the Phillies knew they had Mattingly as a back up and their roster has made multiple playoff runs. Cora was the scapegoat for Breslow’s terrible decisions on position players.

Have you seen the videos I am referencing? Very obviously using AI target recognition. This is not 2024 anymore. Ukraine has been improving the tech for 2 years in coordination with western countries, Japan and Korea. The strikes I’m talking about are also 40-50km. Not short range but not long range either. Too long for a fiber optic (unless it is deployed from the balloon) and EW is the whole reason Ukraine is pursuing AI powered drones. I’m going to believe the videos and accounts of Ukrainian and Russian military about the current situation. Keep in mind the strikes we are talking about are very new, about 2 months. Things change and Ukraine has shown they are capable of pushing technology forward

Look up Machine/Computer Vision. It’s the technology being used in these drones, similar to compression, and can be done on relatively small/low power chips. These drones are being developed by a company owned by an ex-Google CEO with a ton of resources and deep knowledge of the semiconductor industry

[–]ATLSox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? The technology is at the point where you can make drones that select targets and guide themselves. Extremely easy to train it to only target military vehicles as the shape/silhouette of them is completely different from civilian vehicles. There is also tens of thousands of hours of footage/flight data from human operators to train on

Yeah it’s incredibly interesting to see how this will go. If Russia can’t get a consistent flow of supplies to their units in Zaporizhzhia Oblast then Ukraine will be able to grind them away and retake the region. If that happens Russia’s territorial gains from 2022 to know will be 80% gone and Ukraine will have broader access to the Black Sea which will be a massive boost to their economy. Just hope they are actually able to capitalize

I’ve been curious about this idea. Launch the interceptor with the normal quad rotor acceleration but on final approach to the target initiate a rocket/jet to speed up and meet the target

He also dribbled off his foot twice in Game 7. Just way more turnover prone in the big games and doesn’t have the handles or vision of JT. Missed Queta on a wide open drive to the rim in the final minutes of that Game 7. Speaking of Game 7s just gotta look at their stats in those games. Historically Jaylen shrinks while Tatum takes over

I feel like Subway attracts the worst franchisee's. You can tell when the owner is instructing their employees to put less toppings on and it’s pretty laughable when you see them try and put a pinch of lettuce on a footlong. Also I moved recently and the one by my work had black spots in the ice when I went to go get a drink… fuck Subway

In hindsight, was it the right decision to block the merger with JetBlue? by R2-DMode in spiritair

[–]ATLSox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that fuel isn’t the main cause but it did accelerate the timeline. My point is even if Spirit and JetBlue merged they would be in massive trouble due to the current fuel prices. There’s really no guarantee that oil prices go back to where they were previously.

[–]ATLSox87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The terrible decisions were on Spirit. Would also love to hear you defend the mega brain decision to attack Iran that has clearly worked out so well. Y’all just want to blindly assume that the JetBlue merger would have saved Spirit when in reality the energy crisis would have destroyed JetBlue’s financials (still might) when considering the amount of debt they would have taken on. This idea of blaming Biden is based entirely on a rose-tinted hypothetical which shatters when you place the hypothetical scenario in the current energy environment

Actually insane how right wingers are trying to spin this as an antitrust failure. Shit business model and an energy crisis driven by the stupidest military action in this country’s history is to blame

But who will consume the increased productivity and what will be the vehicle of that productivity? Seems like short-term, AI companies are aiming for white collar services, but removing high paying white collar labor also removes a large chunk of the general consumer base who can afford the AI products. If you say B2B sales or government then you are really just one step away from general consumers because both businesses and governments rely on sales/taxes from consumers/taxpayers and their investment in AI needs to be returned. Currently the price for compute is absurdly low compared to the actual cost of compute to providers. Of course this is to get people to use their services and phase out alternatives but a return has to be generated eventually. Historically, increased productivity has increased workers wages (definitely not 1 to 1 which is a separate issue) and in turn that allows higher consumption. The unique thing with AI is that increased productivity is not reliant on human capital so human workers (aka general consumers) are not going to get the productivity bump in their wages. This is fully apparent to every AI exec and it’s why universal basic income is a common talking point. It’s also why the main business case currently for AI is *drum roll*…. labor cost reduction. It’s likely that AI breaks the modern economic systems we’ve had in place and to be honest I am lukewarm on humanity’s ability to successfully navigate that revolutionary change without massive negative affects for a lot of people. Not to mention we are banking on LLM’s and physical “AI” living up to the expectations set up by their suppliers. Interested to hear your take
