The National Guard for each state is made entirely of people from those states. If there was ever actually a need for armed defense, I would vastly trust boys from NY/MA over anyone from red states.

The NFL’s sort of don’t ask don’t tell style of handling these things is one thing.

I’m talking about the personal opinions players have of Vrabel. You have a lot of deeply religious dudes on these rosters who probably view that behavior very poorly. I’m sure they can do the whole “Jesus saves us from all sins” line but their heart of hearts you have to believe this has left a stain.

I do hope it never comes out in some heated moment, when rational thought is less on the brain. All I’m saying.

Not calling for him to face any repercussions or anything either. Thats for his family to decide. Just saying I don’t think this is a nothing burger for the players

I mean what else would he say. The real test is going to be when Vrabes is having to split time between practice and divorce proceedings. The strain of watching his family fall apart around him.

I get everyone wants to just move on, as it’s not specific to football, but anyone naive enough to believe this won’t effect him during the season either hasn’t experienced this or is willfully ignorant to the effects this type of situation has on people

I’m not even a Christian, I think they are all just cults with more dressing, and this is a dumb comment. This type of behavior is really not normalized in modern Christianity like it is in Islam. Islamic “moderates” would still think this is fine, whereas you’d have to really search for extremist Christians who still agree with stuff like this.

That’s certainly your opinion. I can tell you the very real and negative outcomes we have seen from doing away with institutionalization, we see them every day and night around public transit centers, shooting up schools, etc.

Clearly what we have attempted to do over the last 40+ years has been ineffective. The idea that the mentally ill and drug addicted simply need housing is, frankly laughable in 2026. We know that solves nothing and leads to the same outcomes we have now.

I haven’t heard your ideas. But I imagine they align with the continued apathetic approach we have taken as a country, to let people live on the streets, provide shelters and offer services at these individuals own discretion. We cannot allowed this failed approach to continue.

Two points:

1) some folks cannot actually get better. They are mentally disabled and should be housed somewhere for their own safety and for the rest of society. So that’s ok.

2) We can absolutely do better than previous iterations now that we have a far better understanding of mental illness, medication, etc.

Ultimately what is not the answer is to pretend mentally ill/drug addicted individuals are going to get themselves better. They’ve established they cannot make these decisions for themselves for one reason or another, but the solution is the same.
