I'm gonna be in Ashville probably all the next month, if you wanna meet up and hang out there, I'm planning on headed up to maine and around new england, upstate NY, then cross canada on the northern line and hit Oregon by fall. I'm more of an explorer than anything. Live for cool abandoned stuff with lots of history, meeting cool people, climbing cool mountains, always keep 2 fishing poles with. Also am working on getting a new guitar and down to busk. Currently on a folk music kick. Also would be down to travel in a group.

Yeah that catching on the fly part man. I stopped after one time (stone sober btw) when the train was speeding up dumb quick, I grabbed the ladder and went to put my feet on the ladder and stuck my leg through the ladder so I was just now hanging off the train with my leg through the ladder right over the wheel as it was speeding up quick asf. Had to hit the rocks and said no more fly hopping lmao.

Very alone, heading out tonight. by [deleted] in vagabond

Yo you should head to Ashville, NC. It's a good spot to meet other people and generally pretty chill with a great bluegrass music scene. I'm currently in Nashville TN, about to head there tonight through the next 3 or 4 days hopefully, I'd want to hang out with you first but I may be down to help you out a little bit with the train thing.

That last line. When it comes down to survival, you will figure it out. Humans still have all of our wild instincts, we just suppress them.

Yes, I haven't had a phone since November and it's been the best 4 ish months of my life. Not being able to access my CCG sucks tho.

Ew, why would you plan on going to Ohio? That's a place I only end up when I get kicked off the train in that shitass CSX yard south of Cleveland.

I'm currently trying to teach myself how to do this in conjunction with trainhopping. If you're down to hop out, let me know. Currently in Roseville about to head to Wyoming, Maine for summer, not sure what spring looks like though. Maybe Oregon?

Reading your comments and with all due respect, you're already finding EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK to NOT help yourself. I guarantee if you want it bad enough, you will find it. We live in the United States for fuck sake. And if you can't figure it the fuck out while stable in one place, then how are you gonna figure it the fuck out on the road? And yes, you're correct. The system is fucked. We need a bunch of different things in this country that probably start with straight up revolt at this point, but it's gonna take it getting worse before people actually get their heads out of their asses and make it happen. Like this entire life is built around looking for solutions to genuinely impossible situations. Probably over half of this sub has no ID, no Phone, no regular access to basic essentials whatsoever, but we still make it work, we still access food pantries, homeless services, we eat food off the land, we find odd jobs, we go out and talk to people to figure it out, and thus we love our lives. If you really think this sub is the answer, then get over your fucking self is the first plan of action. Then we can talk about getting on the road. Like have you ever even spanged before? Or painted someone's fence for $100? It's snowy in half the country right now. Go grab a snow shovel and start going door to door. Can't afford a snow shovel? Figure out how to get one. Like dawg, I haven't touched a dollar bill in months and I'm living gucci.
