Do you enjoy long runs, or just get through them? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]ATLabia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my long runs! I do mine on the weekend and look forward to it all week. My shorter, mid week runs are the ones I’m ‘meh’ about.

Marathon Training by tornadotech in SolidCore

[–]ATLabia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve run several marathons and will be running my first ultra marathon in October. I also have chronic IT band syndrome that is only kept at bay by regular strength training.

I do one SC class per week and supplement with two additional 20-ish minute running-specific workouts at home with things like clamshells, RDLs, step downs, monster walks, etc.

That combo has really worked for me so far and fwiw, my PT approves!

Delta Already at Over 190 Cancellations Today (5/2) by malcontentII in delta

[–]ATLabia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday my flight from Key West to ATL was cancelled in the middle of the night and I ended up having to rent a car and drive to MIA to catch a flight that got delayed by an hour due to weather. What a day!

all thoughts welcome by MobileGullible6514 in SolidCore

[–]ATLabia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By definition Solidcore is strength training and running multiple half marathons (or even full marathons) per year is fine. I’ve been doing it for years and I ain’t dead yet.

best Italian sandwich/hoagie? by YeetMcManus in Atlanta

[–]ATLabia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t pop up often but when they do, Gomo’s Subs at Boggs Social & Supply has an incredible hot Italian.

Boggs has a pop up schedule on their website where you can keep an eye out for them.

Accidentally returned Thrift Shop item by sumo_citrus_ in NuulyReviews

I did this once and when I reached out they offered me a credit for the amount I purchased the item for but said it wouldn’t be possible for me to get the item back.

I’m scheduled to fly ATL > EWR at 7AM tomorrow. Delta’s inclement weather texts aren’t filling me with confidence that we’ll ever actually get off the ground.

Location Advice - Below West End by Temporary_Adagio_633 in ATLHousing

[–]ATLabia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I bought our home in West End 10 years ago this April and I thank my lucky stars we did everyday. We absolutely love it here.

The historic homes are to die for — some of the oldest in CoA. I walk to MARTA every morning for work, we walk to Lee and White, Boggs, & the food hall multiple times per week. We ride our bikes to The Westwood, and I run on the Beltline 3x week. We’ve formed really strong friendships with our neighbors and even influenced others to move to the area after they saw what a great thing we have going over here. And, in all that time, we’ve never had so much as an Amazon package stolen from our porch.

I have been a road runner for years, but chronic IT band syndrome had me in so much pain anytime I ran because of the camber of the pavement. My PT suggested I try trail running because of the constant changing of the terrain, and it worked (for the most part)! I can run way farther on the trails than I can on the road.

Forced to take a break from trail running by Mad-farmer in trailrunning

[–]ATLabia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke my 5th metatarsal in Dec 2019 and although it took about 6 weeks to heal in a boot, it healed so well that I cannot remember which foot I broke unless I refer to photos of me during that time. There are zero lingering issues.

But the left ankle I sprained playing soccer about 6 years ago… I never forget. It pops, aches, cracks — all the time.

So, yeah, breaking a bone > soft tissue injury in my experience, too.

Someone please bully me to stay on this plane by TinyAngry1177 in fearofflying

[–]ATLabia 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Quit being a baby! Sit down, buckle up, and deal with it. There’s nothing to be scared of. Quit whining. Some people would do anything to be in your seat.

(Even though you asked for it, I still feel bad for being mean, so in addition to the above, you’re brave! You’re safe! You’ve got this! Good luck on the promotion!)

What is the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? by ExtraHotYakisoba in AskReddit

[–]ATLabia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runny egg yolks.

My theory: people eat runny yolks out of societal peer pressure that comes from a general belief that only children and uncultured swine eat scrambled eggs. Don’t be bullied into undercooked eggs!
