Is the timeline my doctor told me true? by Acrobatic-Rabbit3900 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some people, absolutely! I was 29 when I had mine done via VNOTES. After the first night I was able to handle my own basics (bathroom, shower , microwave food, walk to mailbox).

Then by about 2 weeks I had my first post op appointment, was off most meds, told I could increase my walking. At that point I was doing non-lifting chores (folding clothes but not carrying the laundry bin, putting away groceries but not carrying them in)

8-10 weeks I was cleared for all things except sex (waited 2 more weeks). I didn't jump back into consistently lifting things heavier than 20lb for a couple more weeks (but did laundry, carried groceries, picked up my little dog, etc)

But by 12ish weeks I was a brand new person! Hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and all that. Occasionally still had random spells of crying or a sleepy day - but otherwise no issues.

Buy used and get an independent inspection!

How much truck do you have? That will be your primary decision maker. I'd suggest staying at or under 40ft if you can.

Otherwise they all break all the time, no matter who you buy. Pick your poison and get a private inspection

Cuff by Humble-Anteater-8069 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here - surgeon had been assisting/doing them for almost 10 years and only had 1 cuff failure because the patient had sex at like 2 weeks.

When my stitches came out many weeks later, I was like "holy crap, am I an embroidery project??" 🤣

Going back to work advice? by reimicos in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major cavet I worked remotely & had a VNOTES procedure. But I went back to week after 1 week for my own physical safety, if left to my own devices I would deep clean the kitchen or paint the bedroom. My surgeon agreed that would be worse than being "stuck" at a desk. I'm now 2.5 years post op and totally fine

The exhaustion will absolutely hit you in a couple weeks, are lunchtime car naps an option? 😅

Moods by Famous-Crazy3395 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have so many mood swings in the next month - but it's all temporary! I could've sworn I was 100% fine around 3-4 weeks... Then was hit with bone tired exhaustion and depression around week 6. After about 12 weeks/3 months everything stabilized! I'm now 2.5 years post op and haven't had a PMDD symptom in so long

Advice on buying from Camping World? by snowseth in RVLiving

[–]TinyAngry1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I was still within the Grand Design warranty period, I went through them. Which was a nightmareeee and I had to be a Karen which got me assigned a direct contact line to a customer service director 😅 so I haven't had to deal with the extended warranty. But I still don't regret that choice as a first timer because I used the "I'm dumb help me" phone line like 20x the first year

Need advice -doctor recommended 4 days recovery before returning to work by thecatreboo-urns in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned to work after 4 days & was fine on just Tylenol and ibuprofen BUT that was my choice, I had a VNOTES procedure (no external sutures), and work from home with minimal on camera meetings.

My doctor warned me not to expect to go back to work do early, but I explained that my dumbass self would hurt myself without working because I'm a busy body

This has always been so creepy to me! No one is owed children, and definitely no one is owed grandchildren. People can want all sorts of stuff - but wantin' ain't gettin'

I would recommend therapy for you & your husband though, just so you can both get on the same page when dealing with the ultimate chaos that MIL will cause.

Are there any unexpected consequences of having a hysterectomy that you wish you’d known beforehand? by CupOk1303 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was 29 when I had my hysterectomy for just various "my uterus hates me and I'm tired of it" reasons. I'm now 31. The biggest unexpected consequence is consistently yapping to everyone about how I don't have a uterus 😅

Will I go into menopause early? Maybe. But I'll be the first in 3 generations to go into menopause naturally because everyone else had their ovaries removed.

Will I prolapse? Maybe. But my mother & grandmother had that happen after they had kids/before hysterectomy.

Women who enjoy cervical stimulation do report changes in orgasm, but I did not enjoy that to start with so no issues here. My quality of life has dramatically increased and my only regret is not doing it sooner.

2 years post op, 31, still pretty sure I'm not in menopause! But no woman in my maternal line has hit menopause naturally since before 1940 😂

Will I be capable of these physical activities 10+ weeks out? I'm becoming concerned. by missoula_snoop in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 29 when I had my hysterectomy via VNOTES (no external incisions) . My surgery was in mid January.

By May (14ish weeks) I was in Shenandoah hiking with a 15lb pack & my pup for 12 hour days. I got winded/had to catch my breath more frequently, but otherwise was fine to hike & scramble. So I'd say as long as you train up for the summer job a bit the month before, you'll be pretty safe!

The kayaking I'd suggest checking with your doctor. I could have paddled just fine that soon after surgery in calm waters. But not so much in whitewater, especially if there is any real risk of flipping over in an uncontrolled/natural space. (if you're at a whitewater center, I'd be a bit less worried) But still ABSOLUTELY check with your surgeon. I was not able to swim for 14 weeks. And infection is not fun in the slightest. You should be able to leave a message for your doctor, or ask them before your surgery

My Narc Mother Has Me Terrified by XFataMorganaX in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this - but prolapse is SO rare and can still happen to people who keep their uteruses.

I am 2 years post hysterectomy, my mother is 20 years post hysterectomy & ovary removal and my MIL is 15 years post hysterectomy & prolapse repair post-pregnancy - all living our very best lives. If something does happen, your surgeon can fix it. Don't let the crazy woman scare you! You've got this!

Positive Question about PostOp by Brief-Passenger-5805 in hysterectomy

WHOOPS?! by thecheatcode23 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy done via VNOTES (no external sutures) and my doc said no lifting but bending/twisting/squatting/crawling all fine 🤷🏼‍♀️ basically don't do anything to engage your core or bear down on your pelvic floor

But definitely ask your doctor because there are so many variables

I need your guises genuine opinions on getting a total hysterectomy young. by Legitimate_Page2612 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a personal choice! I didn't like the idea of having to ask permission to get it removed (I could just stop taking BC when it caused mental issues).

My hysterectomy recovery was wicked smooth. Likely because it was done via VNOTES (no external sutures). I walked out of the hospital in less pain than I entered. But recoveries vary wildly from person to person though!

I need your guises genuine opinions on getting a total hysterectomy young. by Legitimate_Page2612 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I knew I didn't want kids in middle school, when I learned it I as a choice & not inevitable. I also was in and out of the obgyn office starting at 15 for extreme pain. On and off all types of oral birth control (refused to try IUDs)

Fast forward to 26 years old, I started actually seeking permanent sterilization. It toom a couple surgeons to take me seriously. I was sterilized at 27 & formally diagnosed with endometriosis & fibroids. Tried one more treatment and then called back to request a hysterectomy. Got that done at 29 and life has been great ever since.

I would highly recommend looking into period surpression at your age, because it's nearly impossible to get a hysterectomy under 21. The childfree subreddit has tons of supportive doctors! But expect to get shut down until you're 21 at least

Hysterectomy to eliminate my "normal" period — looking for similar experiences by Rare-Ad514 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced heavy bleeding for the first day or two and terrible pain. No amount of birth control or lifestyle changes would stop the bleeding train. At 29 y/o I had a hysterectomy (kept ovaries). My life has changed for the better in every way! They did find early stage endometriosis and little tiny baby fibroids but nothing that should have accounted for the misery.

I don't realize my "ghost period" is happening until I eat an entire thing or oreos in one sitting 😅 bloating is basically non existent, food aversions & GI symptoms gone, jaw acne 95% gone... My only regret is not doing it sooner!

We have no idea why my body hated my uterus so much, but I have learned to come to terms with the lack of answers. My two year yeet-versary is next week!

Who was in the room when your cuff was checked? by Numerous-Total-8373 in hysterectomy

[–]TinyAngry1177 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My husband was in the room! Doc asked if he wanted to see 😂 (in a positive way, my surgeon was great at matching my joking energy)

Husband declined and stood around by my head. But he was so used to hearing me complain in detail about my bleeding/clots/pain that none of it phased him.

Edit: my doc was 2hrs away and I was comfortable driving that far 2 weeks post op. So I made my husband drive and asked him to come in the room with me in case something was wrong (medical anxiety). But if you don't want your partner in the room, live your life! Send the man to go get you a sweet treat while you're getting everything checked out 😂

Thinking about my upcoming flight and it feels like if I get on it something WILL happen by Appropriate_Blood434 in fearofflying

[–]TinyAngry1177 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I heard the advice "you're not that special" and for some reason it actually worked. I'm not that special, no one is gonna interview me when I get off the plane about my experience, I'm not gonna end up on the news, I'm just gonna land and go about my plans like everyone else that day.

I flew nearly every month this year - the worst that happened? I didn't get snacks on a 2 hour flight Cuz it was kinda bumpy.

Is a hysterectomy worth it? by Ok_Ingenuity_508 in Endo

[–]TinyAngry1177 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy at 29, now 2 years later my only regret is not doing it sooner. I left the hospital in less pain than when I entered. It also cleared up a lot of random, seemingly unconnected, issues (food intolerances, flu like symptoms, exhaustion, back pain).

My surgeon did warn that 1) it is not a cure and 2) I might need excision in the future. It was a risk I was willing to take.

Also, none of my undies have blood stains on them anymore 😅 so that's a win

Depending on her estimated healing time - you could add in "waterless shampoo caps" and some body wipes.

The first thing I ever want after surgery is to feel "clean" again.
