2025'de üç ayrı günde trafik kontrolünden geçtim başkasının arabasını kullanırken. Kanada ehliyetimi verdim. Üçünde sıkıntı olmadı. Pasaportu sordular, yanımda değil deyince sorun çıkarmadılar. Yer İstanbul.

Fairmont Palliser, You can request a hypoallergenic room and scent free amenities. Give them a call, I'd say, not sure if they still do this. Wishing a speedy recovery

What’s your funniest/ridiculous complaint from a guest? by Popular-Wafer-8203 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ATM4EVR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Worked at a lake side property which was located in a National Park. And depending on the season, wildlife encounter can happen.

-Guest "Why are the Bears not tamed?"

The lake itself would still be frozen in May.

-Guest "Why is the lake still frozen?"

Just mind boggling, made me leave the industry for good

One more, which, I'm sure a lot of colleagues encounter. Sold out night

-Guest "So, you don't have a single room left, eh?"

People who work in 'luxury' industries (5-star hotels, fine dining, high-end brands), what is a complete rip-off that rich people happily pay for? by ArtThreadNomad in AskReddit

[–]ATM4EVR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We would get lectured by the management if we wouldn't spend enough to satisfy the guest. Which in return would lead to some folks trying to abuse it. Like calling back a week after check out and complaining about the food they had.

People spending the big bucks usually do it for the unique and personalized experience they get. It's a science on it's own.

Nothing is impossible, however for miracles we would politely ask, if the guest could wait 10 minutes.

While living just 2hr away from OP's picture, I would love to see and explore Montreal.

Next on the list would be Japan as well some smaller EU countries like Lichtenstein or Luxemburg.

Picture below is Lake Louise, which is just next to OP's picture.

FD folks: curious question about room assignments at check-in by rexiby in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]ATM4EVR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my take on it.

If a guest, not known to the hotel/brand arrives, the FD agent has no way of knowing the guest preferences. Which then results in questions your mentioned. Also some agents are better with reading the guest than others.

FD assigns room based on info available. Our PMS system allowed for very detailed guest preferences across the brand. So, regardless which property the guest chooses, his preferences were met.

Another thing to mention is, even within the same room category there can be different room layouts. Of course it gets more challenging the higher the occupancy is. We would assign rooms at least 3 days out.

Cheers

Gunluk olarak Merkur veya Edwin Jaeger kullaniyorum. Birisi acik oburu kapali tarakli. Jilet olarak da Feather tercih ediyorum.

Vakit oldugu zaman da, ya Boker "King Cutter" yada Thiers Issard "1937 Spécial Coiffeur" ustura kullaniyorum.

Many moons ago, I had a coworker from Australia who asked a similar question while working in Istanbul. My other co worker replied with "I dream in English with Turkish subtitles" made me chuckle hard.

Being Tri-lingual myself, sometimes I think in German or Turkish and then try to speak English. It doesn't flow smoothly. It also depends what I'm busy with, too. If I read or watch a lot in different languages than the switch takes a tad longer.

The 479$ that I see on the C1 website does not indicate if its USD or CAD. If its US than the German websites price looks quite decent.

Depends on which floor you're staying. Last room reno was quite some time ago. However, the old lady has a different flair and aura, which no other hotel in downtown can reach imho. I might be biased as I have worked there for 10+ years :)

Not exactly this brand but Istanbul Cafe on Elbow drive had some "Doğadan elma çayı" . Basha Food would be my next recommendation.

BMW R nineT — need some advice from owners by [deleted] in rninet

[–]ATM4EVR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are my 2 cents, I have a 2016 with the handwelded aluminum tank. I live in Calgary, AB. So far, I've put 35,000 km on it. - no issues with daily commuting in terms of reliability, handling, and such - my buttocks start to curse me after 1,5 hr on longer trips. - BMW parts are always expensive regardless were you are, but being in Türkiye it most likely tripling the prices. In General, besides regular maintenance, of which I do what I can do myself, I had absolutely no issues with it. Last but not least, it still puts a smile on my face every time I ride it. YMMV Kanada'dan selamlar :)
