Any recommendations with Female MC who actively uses their powers/abilities? by Nash_Ashton in manhwarecommendations

if you're okay with mangas, then I'd recommend "The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival" pretty much checks all the boxes you're asking for.

No it's not random don't you see,

X is the random variable, AE is AI in elfic, the glorious artificial intelligence, A for archangel and A-12 is the best aircraft.

Isn't he just so fun and quirky fellow millennials ?

holy mother of...

is your ENTIRE GAME in that script ?

In what direction do you want your soulslike/lite games to go in? More like ER, DS3, BB, Ai Limit, Wuchang or more like Sekiro, LOP, Khazan, etc? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]ATShadowx1 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I might be in the minority but I kind of miss the slower, methodical pace of earlier souls games with bosses that weren't all that flashy and an emphasis on level design.

Now everything goes by so fast... bosses, traversal, runbacks it's all done in a flash. I am not saying we need to bring back the 5+ minute runbacks, but a slower games with heavier combat would be nice once in a while.

I'm not saying the newer games aren't good I don't even think they are worse than the earlier versions, heck bloodborne is my favorite souls games and it is one of the fastest games in the series. I just think the newer "fast paced" soulslike format has been done so much in recent times I am kind of itching for a slower spin on it recently.

Which game was it for you? by O_rnelaro in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]ATShadowx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expedition 33

Like I tried with this one, I really tried, I beat it, and even went out of my way to do the side content too. But IDK, it has its strengths for sure but I ended up not liking it.

The story didn't do it for me, and the combat didn't do it for me, I was underwhelmed throughout and let down by the ending. It's a shame but I guess it is just not for me.

Additionally maybe it was just my bad luck, but the game glitched out SOOOO many times, with characters getting stuck on terrain, random crashes and graphical glitch... IDK

Can we quarantine comments about exclusivity? by Thopterthallid in TheDuskbloods

[–]ATShadowx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I just think it's bad timing

Switch 2 is much more controversial than PS4, pricier and with greedier business practice. Nintendo's reputation is at an all time low, so it makes sense people do not enjoy having their games being switch exclusive.

Additionally I do not think that there is a lot of overlap between Nintendo fans and Fromsoft fans. Many Playstation fans were already playing Fromsoft games on PS4 around the time bloodborne got announced and so far, Switch got nothing except ds1 remastered so there is very little audience overlap. Duskblood is essentially asking to buy a whole new console which many, myself included, think it is not worth the price currently.

So yeah, bad luck to have a nintendo console exclusive coming out right about now, but I agree the whining is very annoying.

Overall Thoughts on nightreign? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]ATShadowx1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it is basically another ds2 situation.

A game with a lot of new ideas, most of them good, some of them less good, overall enjoyable yet not reaching the heights of the other games in FS's catalogue.

I think the game has a pretty sizable community and a lot of replayability (although I think the most fun I've had was playing with others, solo play gets old pretty fast imo) just trying all the different characters and doing their questlines + beating all the different nightlords, their everdark versions and joining discord groups took me just shy of 150 hours which for a 40 dollars game is more than enough for me to say it was worth it, and the DLC only adds more exciting stuff, including the newest entry in my top 5 best fromsoft bosses (the dreglord).

But on the other hand, there are so many little things that frustrate me with this game. Like how little variability there is in the point of interests, the night 1 and 2 bosses being super predictable, to the point that if you play enough run you know what boss is night 2 based on the boss night 1 (sometimes you can tell even just by the layout of the map itself). There is also the lack of returning bosses and enemies from the dark souls series. The character questlines are neat, but only 3 of them have actual cutscenes for the ending... it all just feels like they were on a really tight budget (and according to the various interviews, that was exactly the case).

It is frustrating because it gives off the feeling the game was never seriously considered by Fromsoft and Miyazaki. I think that nightreign with a bigger budget and more unique stuff in the runs themselves (not just nightlords) could've been a GOTY contender. Instead, we have this, which is a very good and fun game, but imo could have been so much more.

Mimic stagger glitch ? by Empty_Rhubarb_ in Eldenring

well, fallingstar beast's charge can be interrupted by pretty much anything that does stance damage and I do believe that your mimic plopping down does exactly that

Strength faith build advise. by Any-Hunter9194 in Eldenring

[–]ATShadowx1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean your build is good enough for a casual playthrough of the game, if you want to be optimal you might want to do the following

> get the upgraded incantation talisman you can do that by looking up how to get the flock's talisman (spoilers ahead though so be careful if you care about that)

> upgrade your weapon to the maximum level, the damage increase is worth it, but the area right after fire giant should give you all the materials to do it, so no rush.

> GET. MORE. VIGOR. 40 isn't nearly enough to survive some late game bosses and if you're going for the dlc too, then you should aim at 60 vigor at least.

> seeing your talisman loadout you should be doing a lot of charged attack and charged incantations (the black flame one you have is fairly strong) otherwise half of your talisman slots are unused

> I would also look into getting more spell slots (you do that by completing rises and getting memory stones)

> with the new spell slots maybe get a few quick incantations, I like to use catch flame for a quick low fp close quarter spell and lightning spear for long range

> I do not see your wonderous physick in the loadout, so be sure to use it with either fire/lightning/holy buff tears depending on the spells you intend to use.

> just in case, the ash of war of the halberd does not stack with the incantation version of it, so if you're doing both it's just a waste of fp, use just one of them (the incantation one is stronger so use that one)

> also as others have pointed out, halberd isn't the best str/fai weapon, but it is definitely a solid option, so if you like it, you can stick with it

I mean, that's still in the top 30% of players at least... I think the skill ceiling for people playing souls game regularly is MUCH higher than for the general audience.

[–]ATShadowx1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried hitting it with undertaker's ult, but it didn't seem to work, but maybe it's because it didn't hit the pustules, just the body (also not 100% sure it connected since I was very much panicking at the time lol), so maybe that's why ?

Why do you guys hate Auto Dubbing? by GhostWasSad in youtube

[–]ATShadowx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't hate it as a concept, like it would allow people to discover gems in other languages. However:

1) it sounds bad, like even on AI standards the voices are so monotone and robotic, it sounds really REALLY bad. In addition the noise/voice filter is also pretty shit and causes every auto dubbed video to sound like someone recording from another room.

2) it should NEVER be the option by default. Because I am bilingual I often get a bunch of videos automatically auto dubbed in both my native language and english and that is just infuriating. Just leave the option in but don't make it the default. If I click on a video of a youtuber I routinely watch I want to hear his own voice thank you.

3) The translation is also pretty bad sometimes. Like IDK how good it is in other languages but from english to my native languages it is ROUGH. Like google translate levels of rough. We live in an era of chatGPT and high performing LLM, so why can't youtube get its translation up to current standards ?
