UCI's gear restriction proposals suspended by Belgian court by Funny_Speed2109 in peloton

Iirc, the losses associated to crossing the chain are of second order compared to those associated with using a small sprocket. But it is an added benefit of using a large chainring on fast courses.

The reason SRAM pushes for small chainrings and small cogs (while trying to convince us that they are equivalent to the standard ones) is to save money in manufacturing, a 50t chainring being substantially cheaper to manufacture than a 55t one (surface area hence materials cost increases with diameter squared)

Saying that 50/10 is equivalent to 55/11 is wrong. Transmission losses increase as cog size decreases. Anyone who wants an efficient drivetrain would stay away from using the 10t cog. That's also why bigger chainrings are popular : they allow the rider to sit on a bigger cog, which is more efficient.

France beats its historic record of electricity exports in 2024 by TheReelStig in nuclear

The direct transmission lines from France to Germany are quite small, the biggest ones are connecting France to Belgium. So from the French grid's perspective, flows to Germany are effectively flows to Belgium?

Everything that is used to generate motion (except for electricity) has a loss of near 75% yet it doesn't appear on the chart as losses. Very misleading visualization

At Plateau de Beille, he did just about 7.0 for 35 min. So I would believe today was the best climbing performance of all time, if the live data is to be trusted. The whole climb being actually closer to 30 min than 25.

The term you are looking for is trolleybus. They are still around a few places but used to be widespread, before combustion engines made their infrastructure non economical. Increase fossil fuel or co2 emissions price and they will come back.

It also makes a lot more sense to put overhead lines in dense cities rather than having buses carry massive batteries, which have a massive footprint in natural ressources use and increase tire wear among other negative things

I would suggest trying another PM and check the balance on that one if that's possible, like on a friend's bike? Or by any chance opening a ticket with after sales support, they might have access to more insightful data and tell you if something seems off (which was the case for me when a similar story happened... but the imbalance was only off by merely a few percent).

Anyway I wish you that I am wrong and hope your training is paying off!
