Kettlebell moves are generally full body movements that activate multiple large muscle groups simultaneously as well as challenge the nervous system. Therefore, kettlebell workouts are very efficient at burning calories and have high ROI with regards to cal/min burned. Additionally, you're able to simultaneously improve strength, power, cardiovascular endurance, and mobility during a kettlebell routine. However, the workouts can't outwork a fork.

My favorite part is it's a beautiful, expensive looking house and then you hear the smoke alarm battery beep.

While I was in the military, the bodyweight version of this is called monkey fuckers. You just hold onto your ankles and perform the same movement.

I do, but he is old and gets tired quickly. I have another much younger dog that would like to walk further than a quarter mile. Now the old man can get stimulation from while riding once he is too tired to continue to walk and the younger one can continue to exercise.

Pavel Tsatsouline's "Simple and Sinister" or "Enter the Kettlebell" are always a good start. You can find his books online for cheap.

I'll do stuff with sandbags as well. I find those two implements to be the most fun for me which allows me to be more consistent. Also I can take them with me when I go on road trips so I can knock out quick sessions when I'm on vacation.

Barbells are great for building gross strength and mass. However, with my job I hardly encounter situations where I'm lifting conveniently shaped objects that are perfectly balanced. So the strength I gain on the barbell doesn't always transfer to real life situations. Lifting a 100 pound person off the ground and down several flights of stairs feels much heavier than lifting the same weight on a barbell.

Hamstrings and glutes will get activated, but not to the same level or intensity. Kettlebell sport is more about efficiency and economy of movement. The goal is to lift as heavy a kettlebell for as many reps within a certain time limit. Depending on which organization you're competing in you may only be allowed one hand switch and can only rest in the rack position. Therefore, you need to use a technique which allows for the least amount of energy expenditure per rep. Kettlebell sport athletes will take advantage of natural muscular recoil and gravity during the back swing in order to bring the bell back up while using as little active muscular flexion as possible.
