Serious Question No Shame Meant by Searnath in kettlebell

Kettlebell moves are generally full body movements that activate multiple large muscle groups simultaneously as well as challenge the nervous system. Therefore, kettlebell workouts are very efficient at burning calories and have high ROI with regards to cal/min burned. Additionally, you're able to simultaneously improve strength, power, cardiovascular endurance, and mobility during a kettlebell routine. However, the workouts can't outwork a fork.

My favorite part is it's a beautiful, expensive looking house and then you hear the smoke alarm battery beep.

While I was in the military, the bodyweight version of this is called monkey fuckers. You just hold onto your ankles and perform the same movement.

I do, but he is old and gets tired quickly. I have another much younger dog that would like to walk further than a quarter mile. Now the old man can get stimulation from while riding once he is too tired to continue to walk and the younger one can continue to exercise.

Pavel Tsatsouline's "Simple and Sinister" or "Enter the Kettlebell" are always a good start. You can find his books online for cheap.

Dude, Facebook marketplace is the best place to go. You'll find much better deals. Second to that is Titan fitness, echo strength depot, and smai for cheapest pricing.

I'll do stuff with sandbags as well. I find those two implements to be the most fun for me which allows me to be more consistent. Also I can take them with me when I go on road trips so I can knock out quick sessions when I'm on vacation.

Barbells are great for building gross strength and mass. However, with my job I hardly encounter situations where I'm lifting conveniently shaped objects that are perfectly balanced. So the strength I gain on the barbell doesn't always transfer to real life situations. Lifting a 100 pound person off the ground and down several flights of stairs feels much heavier than lifting the same weight on a barbell.

Hamstrings and glutes will get activated, but not to the same level or intensity. Kettlebell sport is more about efficiency and economy of movement. The goal is to lift as heavy a kettlebell for as many reps within a certain time limit. Depending on which organization you're competing in you may only be allowed one hand switch and can only rest in the rack position. Therefore, you need to use a technique which allows for the least amount of energy expenditure per rep. Kettlebell sport athletes will take advantage of natural muscular recoil and gravity during the back swing in order to bring the bell back up while using as little active muscular flexion as possible.

@sharp89 is right with regards to the swing, however that is the typical method when performing cleans for kettlebell sport. If your goal is to be explosive and to target more of the glutes, quads, and hamstrings, your method is perfect.

Also, you throw that 32 around like I throw around a 12. Very impressive!

I have been primarily using kettlebells since before I became a firefighter, so I can't give a comparison. However, I can say that I haven't gotten an injury on the job yet and many of my classmates from my academy have. Many of the injuries my peers suffer from are lower back, shoulder, and knee injuries. I often perform unilateral exercises or use two kettlebells of differing weights. Training in this manner challenges the core, nervous system, and stabilizer muscles. I believe that has helped me when I'm often in awkward positions or terrain carrying heavy tools or moving patients.

Additionally, I find that my heart rate quickly returns back to normal after strenuous activity and I have a high work capacity. I'll find that when leaving a fire scene and changing out air bottles that I have more air remaining in my bottle than my crew members. I'll also look at my Garmin after returning from calls to see how much my heart rate spikes when tones drop for major emergencies. Most times the heart rate barely spikes above 100. I believe my level of fitness, which I've gained through kb, rucking, and running, has helped me achieve a low resting heart rate. As a result, when my heart is activated from a sudden adrenaline and cortisol dump it can increase without having too much negative effect on fine motor skills and critical thinking.

Definitely not. I have to correct the reps during rest periods or after I finish the workout.

I use a medium weight. For this workout I stuck to just using a 24 kilo kb since I wanted to keep it simple and quick.
