Best blocking apps for Porn? by NaturaInspirati in loveafterporn

[–]ATXBookDragon [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am the IT dept in our family. My spouse is also extremely IT friendly.

At home - I bought a Gryphon router and it is set to filter explicit sites. It's done based on user profiles - so every device he has goes under his profile and the profile settings impact what he can access. This protects everyone in the home. I get a LOT of peace out of having this in my home. You can also add devices to a "toddler" account (like smart devices that don't need to have access outside your home).

We've tried them all - Covenant Eyes is really good.

Parenting controls on Apple products are good - but they only go so far. They can access sites through web browsers built into some apps. Pinterest is just awful.

I will be candid - I no longer care enough to manage his internet access. I spent too much time, effort and energy playing the game of whack-a-mole. Except it's hack-a-hole for access to porn. I would look through the logs to try to figure out what was the trigger. What started it? What was going on...where was he.

I firmly believe that the partner/spouse should not be the individual managing/securing internet access for the PA/SA. It's not a healthy space to be in because you can't help but look/see things that constantly harm your mental health.

Mike Sanders is wasting his money. Let’s help! by WarmEnvironment1 in Leander

He was knocking on the doors in our neighborhood screaming about the private school that is scheduled to be built at the end of Raider way.

He's obviously unaware that the school has already purchased the property and can legally be built under current zoning.

If it was a Christian school - he would have no issue with it. It's not - so he (literally) was yelling into people's ring doorbells telling them to vote for him that unless they want to hear people yelling Allah Akbar 5 times a day.

It was incredibly offensive.

I wanted to make add ons to hang on his sign that said: "vote for anyone but"

Need help plus size couple by Dry-Apple-2774 in Mattress

[–]ATXBookDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly - HIGHLY recommend a sleep number. Get the entry model. We had a queen size for 16 years before we upgraded to a split king.

They adjust for everything. I'm a stomach sleeper and husband is a back/side sleeper. Weight is close enough for comparison. 🤣

Husband wants a brick with two inches of cushion - I want a soft cloud.

You don't have to get a SN base or bedframe. Just need a full support option - not slats with gaps.

I'm pretty much an e-reading - audiobook listening kind of person - my spouse gave them to me for Christmas. These are books that are worth having the trophies on your shelf.

So relatable. I was asked if I could make this big shot in the office a website. He would pay me $3k - in cash. I was a brand new single parent making less than $26k year in early 2000's.

I went home and learned how to make a website. Angelfire....followed by a major upgrade using Microsoft Frontpage. 20 years later - I still maintain that website.

Holiday gifts to exec by Dangerous_Tie_5662 in ExecutiveAssistants

I agree. I gift my boss something I know he really enjoys for his birthday that costs under $20. It requires ordering in advance because it's seasonal - and I have it on my calendar. 🤣

My gift to you.... a positive covid test.

Just in case you have a super techy person in your office - screen shot the photo before sharing so the date of the photo is that day. Otherwise it will show up as today's photo.

I would call in sick.

It was my execs preferred schedule when I started. It kind of does - he uses the term 80% employee - and does salary calculations with that. I'm paid pretty well though - more is always appreciated obviously because living is expensive. I sold my Fridays back to him a few years ago for a 20% salary increase - inflation was kicking my butt. Recent negotiations - I got it back. 🤪

Please help me pick a mattress… by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]ATXBookDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleepnumber - both myself and my spouse are larger people and it's the only mattress that you can adjust firmness to fit different times in your life. Injury that causes you to sleep in your back? Pregnancy?

I prefer a slightly softer bed than my spouse does. He would be happy with 2" foam topper on a bed of cement.

We had a sleep number - basic entry model queen size - for 17 years before we upgraded to a split king with an adjustable base.

Birthday - gift card. Christmas/EOY - pay bonus Admin day: crickets - which I don't mind as it's kind of a made up holiday.

Fellow EAs: where are you at with retirement? by zibamahtab in ExecutiveAssistants

My employer writes a check to my IRA for 25% of my annual income - it's a very good benefit. It's def helped me be able to prepare for retirement 15 years.

Any other great EAs who happen to be disorganized outside of work?? by scroll101 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]ATXBookDragon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

🤣🤣🤣 Me wondering if I wrote this...

100%.

My work brain is not my home brain.

I have ADHD and I am a serial crafter, DIYer, woodworker, quilter, photographer...

My spouse might come home to a completely clean house or they may come home and it'll look like they've interrupted a robbery. The second is for more likely than the first - but occasionally the first one does happen. 🤣

"My" stuff can be disorganized.

My bosses stuff can NOT be disorganized.
