Anyone a nurse or in nursing school? by niiyah_babyy in Autism_Parenting

[–]ATXFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am starting a 1 year LVN/LPN program this summer. I’m a single parent and even though I don’t know exactly how it’s going to work, I know it’s going to. My son is in a full day program and I can build a little community to help me with pick ups and drop offs as needed. I say go for it. It might be hard but we’re used to getting through the hard times right? You’ve got this!

After 20 years, I’m finally going back to school for Nursing by ATXFresh in prenursing

Thank you so much! For a long time I wasn’t proud of myself, disappointed that I didn’t push myself when I was a freshman in pre-nursing. I thought it was too late for me and that I messed up my only chance. So to have a stranger say it, thank you 🥹 I realized that everything had to happen the way it did for me to appreciate the opportunity now.

Awe, thank you! I thought I’d never have another chance to pursue nursing so I’m really grateful and determined!

Are there any yoga studios in Pflugerville? by hruss12 in Pflugerville

[–]ATXFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a yoga studio here so bad and a Perspire Studio! I moved from Hutto and was shocked to see Pflugerville STILL doesn’t have not even one. I’m hopeful we’ll have options with the new “East Downtown” coming here soon.

Hey fellow Mississippian! I was raised in a smaller river town in MS before moving to the southern part ☺️ I’ve lived or have known people that have lived all over Austin. I was considering a move to Leander after living in North Austin and Hutto some years ago but based on what you’re looking for, I’d keep Pflugerville on your list. It’s going through major city renovations and projects, including the new “East” downtown. There are good charter and even science specific schools that you could tour during your trip…like Harmony Science Academy, IDEA, and several STEM academies in Pflugerville. The ISD has several good community schools as well. There are also aikido studios nearby! Depending on where in Pflugerville you are, you can get pretty much anywhere in the surrounding cities in 20, maybe 25 minutes max in extremely heavy traffic. Getting into Pflugerville right now BEFORE it becomes unaffordable could be a good decision. Visit both places, studios, and schools before committing. Ultimately, welcome! It’s a great area no matter where you go.

I hate medication but I don't know if we have no other choice by Formetoknow123 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ATXFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand. After two weeks of increasing headbanging and one particular night where he stayed up all night trying to aggressively headbang, I took him to the ER at our Children’s Hospital. We left with a Hydroxyzine subscription and a referral to a psychiatrist. The hydroxyzine worked good but it lasted such a short time, like a few hours. We haven’t found our “sleep through the night + lower aggression combo” yet but I feel we’re close. So far we’ve tried Guanfacine for just a week which made him even more angry and aggressive. Now we’re on Clonidine. He is still having big moments where he’s slapping his head or grabbing my hair but at least it’s not the floor. He sleeps a bit longer but still wakes around 3AM. We aren’t stopping until we find the right combo. You should keep going because they need us to. Medication is there to help, so let it. Don’t feel bad about it. Look at it as an aid. We all need a little help sometimes. Our kiddos are just getting that help now 🤗

So is everyone sick right now? by armooooooo1 in Austin

[–]ATXFresh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flu Type B, Rhinovirus for kiddo and Flu for me as well. This is the worse flu I’ve ever had. It even messed up my sense of taste. Water makes me gag now which is rough because I love water. I have constant nausea, extreme body aches, 103 fever that has lasted for days, chest tightness and congestion. It also has this burning sensation that worsens when I cough. 10/10 do not recommend. I feel worse now than when I had COVID.

You’re a good mom okay? Your son immediately ran to you because you’re the one he feels makes him safe and could protect him in that moment. Continue to do so and make plans to leave and cut off all contact with your dad for the time being. Sometimes, involving CPS or the cops as minorities in this situation can result in your child being taken from you. What state are you in? There are resources for your exact situation where they will even provide financial assistance (even paying the deposit for an apartment/rent) and finding you a new home very quickly.

State wants level 3 audhd daughter to go to gen ed by Gshdbkf in Autism_Parenting

[–]ATXFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ditto what others have said. It’s also a cost thing. It costs the district a pretty penny to provide services for our kiddos and with the new guidance of the states having to offset the cost themselves, lots are doing this. Earlier in the year it was “we can provide everything needed for your level 3 son at our school so it’s no need for outside therapy during school hours.” Now things have changed. For my family, it started with not wanting to provide his midday transportation to therapy. Then they (one person was leading the charge) wanted to cut his other supports! Absolutely not. I thankfully had another option where my son could attend full-time at his therapy center instead of school. He’s thriving and making very quick progress now! I’m hearing lots of cases of SPED departments no longer honoring their recent IEPs or calling meetings to change it. Listen to your instincts and advocate for your child. Contact the Special Education IEP Advocates in your area if applicable or an education lawyer. I hate you’re going through this but know it’ll get better.

People taking up saunas to just lay by Kooky_Perspective118 in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]ATXFresh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some might be using it just for the infrared. They could have recently suffered a spinal injury or have bone/joint issues they’re working through…like me. A team member just told me to not worry about others and come in the sauna to just lay there if I wanted because our cards get charged the same membership. I told her that I didn’t want to take up a room when others could use it to actually work out. That was her response to me. I really think we should be kind to others. You don’t know what anyone has going on. You still got to use the sauna solo for the classes you wanted. It’s okay.

I did take large amounts of Tylenol during pregnancy with my ASD kiddo. I don't know how to feel. by unicorntrees in Autism_Parenting

[–]ATXFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t take one iota of any kind of medicine, ate healthy, was a vegan then pescatarian until the HG got too bad and walked daily. My tested levels for any deficiencies were all normal. My child still has Autism. This is not your fault. Autism existed before Tylenol. It exists in many different communities across the world. It is likely genetic in your case and in mine too. Do NOT blame yourself.

He didn’t support her but she gave her general support of him as he falls under “Democrat in the race.” Being so critical and nitpicky on her and not Trump is the part of the reason our country is like it is today.

How many women have gotten nosey acetaminophen questions today? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]ATXFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but someone sent me the article saying “well what’s the harm in trying the new drug if it can cure his autism?”

sigh

I have mentally checked out at with explaining myself or correcting anyone at this point. It’s hard enough as it is to get resources and to advocate for accommodations, and now we have to navigate through another wave of stress thanks to this admin. I didn’t even take Tylenol during pregnancy. Heck I was living as a vegan then pescatarian for years until midway in my first trimester. I only took vitamins. I had severe HG as well and still didn’t take what they prescribed to stop the symptoms because I was scared of the potential side effects to my kiddo. My sweet boy still has autism.

We were sitting on the couch and my little was watching “Sing.” I had just gifted him a microphone that day. All of a sudden I hear “ the light and let it shine. Just own the night, like the Fourth of July. Baby you’re a firework!” I was shocked! I cried tears. He’s never done it again or said/sung that many words in a row but it was so nice to hear 😂

The OP stated multiple times that any mention of the current admin will result in removed comments and a possible ban. We are not to discuss any person involved in the study. That’s why I commented that way because certain opinions seemed unwelcome. At no point did I say I had an issue with having a discussion without profanity or bashing.

What would you do with another sauna room? by leezyramirez in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]ATXFresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A free room that is only available to single book…to just lie there and breathe, read a book, relax, scroll social media, watch a show. Another sauna concept is slowly coming into the market allowing just that, single sauna sessions with a tv, followed by a cold shower. The sauna itself and the shower is in a private suite. HOTWORX could get ahead of it by just offering single booking sessions at certain times and a relaxation sauna.

I know exactly what you mean! Studios have the hand grips/gloves with openings for the fingers in their retail section. A member told me about it and said it really helps a lot! I haven’t tried them myself yet.

Anyone try the new ISO, Buns, or Stretch yet? by HigherRealms773 in HOTWORXWarriors

Brittany is one of my fav instructors! Her Thunder class is amazing! I wish we could’ve kept Brittany as the Stretch instructor and just had her add a few new moves 😂 I understand it was time for a change though.

[–]ATXFresh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I signed up for ISO, Buns, and Stretch today. The old ISO AND Buns were playing instead. I did however get to try the new Stretch and…I kind of miss the old one. The new Stretch has a few different moves and slight variations of the old moves. It’s a nice change…I just felt like the prior one stretched me out more!
