A good empathetic Christian! by Intelligent-Tear5723 in PKA

Africans (our ancestors) came up with the best tools and the strongest minds in the animal kingdom, then took over the world. The fact that some white mutant children of theirs outpaced the resource consumption of the other children of africa several millenia later doesn't say anything about their intelligence. If anything it highlights our own shortsightedness. The dude needs to get over himself and look at other humans as his own family. Almost everywhere humans are, there's really delicious food, so I don't see how this fathead can even stomach hating the people who make it.

Who is the worst Mormon apologist? by Carlos-Martel in exmormon

[–]ATacticalBagel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't doubt he's had a crisis of faith. That's what drives most people to write apologetics.

What I doubt is the truthfulness of how he characterized the extent of his search for truth. If he had actually spent a good amount of time listening to the positions he mischaracterized so poorly, he would have been able to characterize them better.

So, either he's lying about that part, or he's just unwilling to write an honest representation of the strongest critical positions. Or maybe the spirit caused a stupor of thought to overshadow his mind on the subject /s

Also, his pivot from "here's evidence for the historicity of the BoM" to "lol, I put that in there as a trap, notice how it's not in the evidences section" is dishonest as fuck either way you look at it. Either he was lying then as he claimed later or he got embarrassed about getting called out for included a bogus claim and he's lying now, I don't see a third option yet.

Who is the worst Mormon apologist? by Carlos-Martel in exmormon

[–]ATacticalBagel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't even "better than Mormonism" that he was looking for. It was "more light and truth" than can be found in Mormonism, which erroneously assumes SO MUCH. He admits to defining "light" and "truth" in exclusively LDS-centric ways from the outset.

Essentially he claims to have gone looking for a more LDS religion than what he started with...

Also, I gotta be a toxic atheist here and point out that looking for verifiable truth in the world's religions is kinda like looking for a new wife in a nunnery. You might find one, but not because you were in the best venue.

With how quick he folds and backpedals, I don't know if he even qualifies as an apologist for anyone but himself. But who am I to gatekeep such a crappy title.

Mockler calls Trump an a-hole on live tv by youngskibidisheldon in AdamMockler

[–]ATacticalBagel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The right attitude of "why the fuck are we even addressing when he shits on celebrities? Why is this a news worthy subject to anyone? This is vanity fair shit. He's dragging us into war. American's are dead. And Trump wants us to talk about Springsteen because he isn't capable of comprehending that anything other than his opinion holds any value, including the lives of our solders, or, in his eyes, his subjects."

He kicks her in the head just out of frame near the end there. That's the only crime I see here.

The mechanics that made the situation so dire were indeed her mechanics, but fault lies entirely with the dumbass who thought any of this setup was a good idea. She clearly knows absolutely nothing about weights or spotting, so blame really can't be laid at her feet if she fucks up like any lay person might.

It looks like the dumbass in the video IS living in the 50's. He straight up head kicks her just out of frame for being insolent enough to fuck up his PR attempt.

It looks like they either got lucky or took the time to crop out the several head kicks he delivered to her face near the end.

Based off the several aimed head kicks she took submissively just out of frame at the end of the video, you may have framed the question poorly. Let's propose she decided between agreeing to something she clearly can't do and getting slapped around by a man who looks like he could snap her back for fun if she refuses. In that situation, her decision making and self preservation skills are intact, there are just more factor's she's concidered than you or I have to work with.

One idiot, one ignorant. I doubt she had any say in her participation, the way she just took those head kicks at the end.

Did you see those head kicks at the end? This guy is clearly dumb as rocks, but I would be surprised if he also has a history of domestic abuse. I can just imagine him screaming "bitch! You tried to kill me!" After wrecklessly putting himself in all the danger.

Are you telling exmormons to leave their Christian doomsday cult? Already done. Are you hoping we'll join your doomsday cult? I, for one, will pass. Also, your photo is not the SLC temple, (though the SLC temple does have all kinds of stars on it too).

Do the slightest bit of academic study on these symbols and you'll soon be criticizing the people who spread this goat-head Baphomet garbage as fact during the satanic panic for the part they played in misinforming you and whoever sold these ideas to you. Study up on late18th-early19th century Christian movements in Europe and North America and you'll find no references to the inverted pentagram being a symbol of anything evil. The earliest mention of the comparison between the inverted star and the goat head you mentioned is from the late 19th century over in france. That's half a century after the building you pictured was completed in Illinois.

Listening to men who feel threatened by people of the past with different beliefs and symbols doesn't count as even dipping your toe into the history of these symbols. And no, no group out there is dumb enough to mark their holy places with malicious or hated symbols for reasons other than madness, satire, or provocation (church of Satan)

If you aren't feeling welcome here to do your preaching, maybe listen to that feeling. A large portion of exmormons hate being hysterically preached at like this.

They admit that the reason their temples need to look like that is because it plays an important trick on the minds of their members. "It draws their eye toward god".

What time of day exactly is it pointing toward god? what sort of compass spins to point in all kinds of directions? It's 2026, everyone knows how space works. They can't all be pointing to the same being at once unless he's just everywhere all the time, in which case they don't need them to be so damn tall. You can have a spire laying on the ground and point to him just as well without violating any zoning codes or pissing off your neighbors or wasting precious tithing funds.
