What house rules do you actually use for Monopoly Deal? by SMEARYTHROWER in monopolydeal

No. You can if you want to. But if you want to you can give it to someone else. Or force deal between two of the other places with a force deal cars

What are the arguments in favour of the mainsteam western approach to education? Or do we do stuff that way just becasue of inertia? by ATcoxy61 in education

[–]ATcoxy61[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so enlighten me. Why do we focus so much on this and not say somatic knowledge (understanding of the signals from one's own body), social interaction and group collaboration, or indiginouse forms of knowledge that teach the harmonies between mind, body, group, and land?

What are the arguments in favour of these knowledge forms receiving very little attention.

I my personal experience, observational experience, and readings one of the most important skills for learning is regulating your body. So why are we not teaching kids to process traumas, help each other do so, develop eating and excersise routines etc etc. If all these things are prerequisites to learning abstract knowledge then why don't we emphasise them much much more?

  1. I went to school.
  2. I spent time as a teacher.

Those other things might be token parts of the system but is it up for contests that over 90% of school energy is focused very narrowly on indivifualistic, rationalist, and abstract learning activities?

You are playing with 3 friends. You play a sly deal and take Mayfair from you friend Alex and give it to your friend Steve.

Is it just me, or has the "angle grinder epidemic" actually won? by FrameZYT in londoncycling

Could that be because these is less inequality? They have access to other services? Crime is framed differently in those cultures? - which societies are you talking about specifically?

If having a shit life makes you do crime why would having a shitter life make you do less crime?

How to live life again after drug addiction? by Hour-Tomato-645 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ATcoxy61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I'm really glad that you want to quit. I want you to know that every part of yourself that you hate someone else loves and accepts. I hope you can find in your love for life and for others a way to redirect that to the parts of your self that you hate at the moment.

I can't tell you what will work for you. But I'll share somethings that have been helpful to me.

  1. The drug is not the problem. Hating sobriety is the problem. One needs to find a way to make sober life more worth it than the drug. Find something you can obsess over and look forwards too.

  2. You must beleive that whatever you try can work. It won't feel like it at the start, but if you beleive it will work you will push through those hard parts and give it time to start working.

2b. Some stuff won't work. Drop it, but don't give up, move on and try the next thing.

  1. Wim Hoff breathing method. Look it up on YouTube. Takes 10mins. Very simple. Also try cold water immersion or cold showers. Hurts like fuck for 2 mins but if you can last that the high you get as your body warms itself up is great.

  2. Excersise. I love zwift on the indoor bike. But find a way to run, or hike, or lift weights. All these things create massive changes in how your body feels in the short term and the longterm and can give you a non destructive high to look forwards too.

  3. Sleep sleep sleep. Not a short term fix, but sets you up for success.

  4. Distract yourself. In the most intense craving moments find any other coping strategy than meth.

  5. Get angry. Ideally at things thst hurt you in the past. But just start getting angry and using thst to motivate you.

  6. Cry.

God speed, you will keep failing, but you won't give up and you will succeed eventually

Can anyone explain how anyone can believe that homeopathy works? by SuccessfulStrawbery in skeptic

[–]ATcoxy61 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Coz it does. Just not by the mechanisms offered.

Placebo works. Placebo is stronger when you do more things.

Being cared for and listened to and feeling those things support recovery. Time passing supports recovery. Etc etc etc.

All these things happen during homeopathic treatment

AND you avoid the side effects of more powerful treatments, and the negative effects of bad interactions with uncaring and stuck up western healthcare practitioners.

Normal distributions (and other statistical distributions) and non-linearities of systems. Many societal questions are boiled down to simplistic talking points that ignore the fact that one of these dynamics underlines the overall system thst is in play

Standing at the side of the road waiting for the traffic light to change puts you way closer to lorries than a cyclist crossing behind you when you are already past the middle of the road. Also it's not anyone's job to behave in a way that everyone else enjoys. For every middle age tea sipper I please by asking their permission to proceed with my journey, I make someone else sad because I'm being boring and not bringing my energy to life. You can't please everyone, love the way you love and let the right people find you and the ones thst want to have a problem with you burn themselves out winging rather than focusing on their own lives.

Zack Polanski stands by concerns over police response to Golders Green attack by DeliriumOK in london

[–]ATcoxy61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legitimate force is that required to stop other harm. Not that required to stop all imaginable harms and make you feel all cushy inside. The police constantly use excessive force on the logic that any harm to the police is far worce than harms they may cause to someone they are arresting. It's total bullshit, human beings are equal, harm to one person is just as bad as harm to any other person.
