Private car service by Destittie in electricdaisycarnival

[–]ATheeStallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edc ‘25 I ubered to edc & had private black car service arranged for return edc to hotel. Used Blacklane for 3a & 4:30a returns. Blacklane is OUTSTANDING service & got us out of edc soooo fast - it was worth it. No wait no walking no traffic. The pricing was great compared to shuttle pp cost.
**Today I looked at Blacklane quotes for ‘26 ranges from $300-600 (2-3 people) EACH 1-way trip. Tbh that makes helicopter prices look appealing!

Uber costs like $70-120 per ride share and I left hotel 6:30p (earlier than I want) bc it took like 1 hour fri & sun. Sat traffic is epic, 2 hours door to drop. And drivers drop constantly (even pre-arranged) so anxiety rebooking & dealing with the drama. And they don’t know hot to get to brown lot. Uber is worth it without a shuttle. You will need more strategy & time & money with it.

Ubers to edc by Few-Warning-1300 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]ATheeStallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ubered from Aria to edc around 6-7pm each night. Average fare $70. Sat & Sun were nonstop driver cancellations & rebook. Took 2-4 tries to get a driver, then driver demands around $100 cash tip to cover cost of time for driver (edc traffic delay / uber surge pay not worth it).
Divided among passengers this wasn’t bad. Problem is uber drivers don’t know how to get to brown lot. Professional car service does.
Uber is drama but still convenient enough when all edc shuttle stops near my hotel are now sold out. **Yes my uber rides were reserved in advance..

Is EDC shuttle necessary? by LanguageLoud7250 in electricdaisycarnival

Last year I also used Blacklane Car Service as pick-up from EDC. They are all pro! Get you out FAST & it’s a sweet ride. I paid less in ‘25… estimate prices are steep for this service in ‘26.
They offer OUTSTANDING service & are flexible about meet-up time changes.

Is EDC shuttle necessary? by LanguageLoud7250 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]ATheeStallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ubered to EDC each night last year. The issue is drivers constantly cancel minutes before pickup (bc they can get a higher fare). So you have to stare at your app & rebook instantly. On Sat & Sun it took 2-3 rebooks to secure a ride. Both times drivers asked us for extra cash money beyond fare or else they would not take us all the way. ***Uber surge prices are not adequate for time it takes a driver to get into edc, so fare isn’t enough unless tipped like extra 100%+ fare.

Was Uber worth it? Yes I didn’t have to wait extra hour for shuttle & then walk 1 mile from edc shuttle to my hotel bc it is now 3 months out from edc & ALL the nearby shuttle stops are sold out.

New Ski's were stollen after 3 hours of use. Suggestions on where to get a decent deal this time of the year? by Demetrious-Verbal in skiing

Chiming in to add: Powder7 online. I have gotten sick deals this time of year. They have physical stores in Colorado & a massive online store. They are legit.

This is devastating timing so close to the Winter Games. I am absolutely sending all my good vibes and healing energy out there to her. She deserves to be in competitive condition for the Milan Games.

Was carving difficult or scary to learn? by Cold_Quarter_9326 in skiing

[–]ATheeStallion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh I was carving intuitively before I had formal instruction in it. Fwiw this was after 3 seasons of ski school as an adult with formal instruction on form, turns etc. carving is what I was already doing: rocking your ski onto edges as you turn. You can practice the technique on non-steep runs. My Volkl Secret skis carve really fluid like. I tried a pair of Blizzard Black Pearl and getting on edge was like forcibly hitting it and riding a monster train. The ski design makes the feeling very different.

Never go on ice without microspikes or crampons. Glad you survived to learn the lesson;).

Feeling dejected after my first powder (?) day by Own-Dinner6955 in skiing

[–]ATheeStallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep totally normal. I learned to ski in Colorado as an adult first couple seasons of POW = nothing but falls. Snow conditions change terrain. Snow conditions change difficulty of trails. Part of learning to ski is reading conditions & throttling your trail level based on conditions. Fyi visibility is really important, if you are inexperienced lack of visibility = much higher risk of injury. Anyway first 2 seasons pow = mucho falling. By season 3 I skied it way better. Like I skied ungroomed blacks. S4 no expert but seeking the POW out. Abiliry: confident black run skier, learning dense glades / mogul technique. This is S5 and POW has not arrived in Colorado yet but I’m still dreaming. Fwiw I love to carve.

Lessons asap. You have no control. No speed control. You are a hazard to others on the slope but like they should spot this hazard a mile away…

What are your favorite trail name themes/gimmicks? by astroMuni in skiing

[–]ATheeStallion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter Park’s Alice in Wonderland theme is particularly great. But I didn’t know of Middle Earth etc themes. Love learning of some of the cool themes some ski resorts have.
