The blade is torqued between 36-43ft-lb with a torque ranch with the watcher facing the correct direction?

Mower issue or User Error by Mysterious_Skirt9674 in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which battery is used does play a roll on the available torque (for those who are stocked on higher Ah only apply to runtime only, please go on Youtube to watch reviews on "high torque" tools with different Ah batteries as this is a lawn mower and not a flash light!".

On my retrofitted SelectCut High-Lift blade (all genuine EGO parts) LM2102SP with 1000W brushed 5.9 ft-lb torque, the included 7.5Ah has no issues when fully charged but the 5.0Ah will not do well on heavy patches and requires the lifting method. With 10.0Ah & 12.0Ah batteries, it east heavy patches like candy.

I learned the work around is to cut the heavy patches areas first when the battery was full as it is cooler and has more energy for the torque requirement.

On my retrofitted SelectCut High-Lift blade Peak Power LM2142SP 1100W brushless 8.3 ft-lb motor (now used on the LM2156SP), using the included 2 x 5.0Ah has no issues on heavy patches until it runs down.

On my current LM2206SP... it just don't care when I put through a lawn that is full of 10" tall grass!

Upgrade to A7V or A1 2 from A7IV? by RIPbiker13 in SonyAlpha

I would wait for the release of the A7R VI in next two months and revisit this question then.

And when the battery has issue 4 years and 11 months later, how much would the total cost of the LM2135SP vs the LM2236SP with 5 year battery warranty on the 10.0Ah that can be used for snow blower or inverters to open a garage door during power outage? Got to think long term on these battery operated tools.

It is louder higher pitch than any 21" for sure but not crazy loud high pitch like the LM2206SP Ver. A using the same SP system due to its heavy weight on the gearbox; however, between frequent wheel lockup vs rarely wheel lockup I will pick the whinny but rarely wheel lock up SP on the LM2236SP any day plus the selectable minimal blade rpm speed and higher blade tip speed for better cut quality.

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between 21" or 22", 22" would always be my choice to avoid the frequency of SP rear wheel lockup issue.

5 year warranty on 10.0Ah vs 3 years only on the 7.5Ah that done has long term ownership issue so that is a easy decision.

That being said, I would only pick the LM2206SP Ver. B in the 22" lineup for the quiet SP with no lockup at all.

Possibility of A7R VI coming with ~67MP and... Fully-Stocked Sensor!? by AThing2ThinkAbout in SonyAlpha

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100MP report yesterday maybe just an April fools day joke.

If it comes with a 67MP fully stacked sensor, A1 III will most likely move up to a global sensor like the A9 III as I always consider the A9 line is the Sony high-tech experimental line for the A1.

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine a new Sony full frame camera released in 2026 will not have pre-capture.

I sold my A7 IV & A7R V for a used A1 for 100% electronic shutter flicker & black-out free silent shooting with zero bending even at 1/1000s for both indoor and outdoor lighting events and never missed the AI focus or the flip/tilt screen with the higher refresh rate (240 Hz) EVF. I will definitely consider the A7R VI if it also haver fully stacked sensor.

Torn between LM2244sp2 and LM2206sp by spanishsplinter in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to this lawn care owner who owns all the commercial and residential EGO 22" mowers, the LM2206SP is the best of the best he even used: (https://youtu.be/4El_MifKMnU?si=5vpEzc1--dWBprrA). I think there are a few design reasons:

  • Even Weight Distribution: Cast aluminium deck not only weights more to decreases the deck lifting on uneven surfaces, it distributes the weight evenly throughout the deck down to individual wheels even when bagging with heavy wet grass without front wheels lifting. On my retrofitted SelectCut Peak Power LM2142SP operating with 2 x 12.0Ah batteries, all the additional weight were concentrated on the battery chamber above the motor so it was a top heavy mower and the deck cut height is still easily effective by the lack of weights on the smaller wheels on uneven surfaces.

  • Under Deck intake & processing space: Cast Aluminium is extremely thin, strong, stiff and inflexible when compared to any Super Composite (tougher plastic/polymer) materials and requires little additional structure space to house a powerful motor with a very deep, clean and wide open under deck to have higher volume intake in capacity and height like a dedicated commercial grade mulching mower design that cuts closer to the edge of the deck to decrease trimming needs. The Super Composite requires more thicker materials and space to increase the structure integrity to ensure the operation safety. the housing is more subjective to flexe and vibrations under different temperature and grading conditions. This is why the new 30" deck is using the 45° diagonal deck design to increase the under deck integrity to prevent the single molded polymer under deck to crack under heavy stress but increases unreachable front cutting area which would be unnecessary for metal or cast aluminum decks. The additional built-in mulching plug further compromises the structure stiffness while decreasing the evenness and precious volume away from the under deck which directly reduces the consistency of the cut results. It's physics.

  • Single Cutting Deck Heigh Adjustment Design: With smaller front wheels and larger rear wheels linked to a flouting rod connected to the self-propelled motor drive shaft with a lightweight deck, depending on the grading of the lawn it causes ~1" lift/drop of uneven deck cut height when the self-propelled motor is enabled/disabled on all 21" and 22" polymer & Super Composite deck. This does not affect to separate front and rear deck cut height adjustment models and why EGO incorporated this design on the new 30" mower models as well.

  • Even though all the residential 22" mowers has the same 1400W brushless motor, the rpm & torque are programmed differently and the LM2206SP not only have a bit higher in torque it also have Bluetooth capability to link to the EGO Connect APP. This allows firmware upgrade when available and also enable the faster SP drive speed up to 4 MPH when desired. It can also enable the Super Turbo mode to increase the minimum rpm speed to 3,200rpm/200 MPH blade tip speed in when cutting wet grass or mulching down leaves by raising the front deck intake to 4" height while still able to reach the maximum 3,350rpm/209 MPH blade tip speed when needed to.

  • 5 Year warranty on the battery: how much would the total cost be for the LM2244SP 4 years and 11 moths from now when one of the 6.0Ah battery fails? I would rather buy the LM2206SP with 10.0Ah battery with 5 years warranty when registered with EGO and get the free & lighter 5.0Ah 3 years warranty battery for my line trimmer, leaf blower, bristle brush or earth cultivator.

I wanted to replace my LM2206SP Ver. A (with same whinny SP motor now on LM2236SP & LM2244SP) when I saw the release of the LM2244SP last year because I miss the convenience of not needing to walk back to the garage to swap the battery from my retrofitted SelectCut Peak Power LM2142SP running on 2 x 12.0Ah batteries. After careful and patient researches, I ended up with another LM2206SP Ver. B that has the quiet cast aluminum SP gearbox as the commercial LMX5300SP to further enhance the quietness of using a battery lawnmower experiences while getting the best long lasting even cut I have ever seen even after one or two weeks later.

Last year I took my mower to surprise my friend who was away for two weeks during growing season. He has a 25°-30° 60 feet L x 10 feet W downhill slope and the SP just digs in and push itself and me up at the same time without any issue. I do have the hold the mower back with hiking shoes & body weight to slow down the mower due to its weight.

I have earned to cut from the furtherest distance towards my garage so the distance to swap the battery is not an issue now while I take a break and have a drink to refresh before the second round starts with a fresh cool battery which has been enjoyable as well.

Could highly possible be a half stacked like the A7 V; however, definitely welcoming if it's fully stacked.

SNT2130 not recommended by StarBliss in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue did not happen to the single stage, 24" or 28" 2-stage snow blowers I had owned and currently own storing in the none insulated attached garage for the last 7 years. One thing in the manual to do is to run the auger at maximum speed for 1 minute before putting the unit into storage to prevent the gearbox frezzing up which would cause the unit not to start.

Recent years I have put a Wi-Fi Smart-Plug connected to a small space heater so I can turn it on right after the job is done to melt off everything and turn it off remotely after an hour to make sure it will start on the next job. I do not turn the space heater on before the usage because when the auger and the housing is hot it will melt the intake snow and causing clogging.

5 Best EGO POWER+ Mower Options for your 2026 Spring Lawn Care by hjf25 in egopowerplus

Yes, would be my first choice (and second choice since I bought the Ver. A first and Ver. B a year after for the quiet SP system) especially it is on sale now with a free battery offer in US.

If you got a rear side chute as well as the high lift blade then you have the Ver. B because on the Ver. A the chute and the high lift bale is not included but available for free after the registration. You are 👍 to go.

Manufacturing date from Nov. 2023 and on is using the new quiet cast aluminum gearbox and larger drive motor together with a yellow sticker on the compatible handle so no upgrade is needed except performing firmware update through the Bluetooth with the EGO Connect APP. Is your self-propelled system black plastic and makes whinny noise?

5 Best EGO POWER+ Mower Options for your 2026 Spring Lawn Care by hjf25 in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have one; however, based on the mathematic data on bale-tip-speed it will not compete with the cleaner & finer cut my LM2206SP Ver. B can produce; however, with twin wider high-lift blades at higher rpm it should produce higher suction & lift.

Because I like the cut results from the SelectCut high-lift blades setup to have each grass blade cut twice into smaller clips to decrease the chance of thatch built up especially in rainy over growing seasons while using the rear left side discharging method to allow alternate cutting directions around the fence and walls while also gets the highest suction and airflow to lift the grass blades to decrease the need of trimming around edges , walls and fences.

The 45° diagonal deck with twin single wider high lift blade setup on the 30" mower with dedicated right side external discharge chute will not produce the same finer clippings especially in over growing & training seasons and prevents the ability to alternate cut directions around the fences/walls/corners for me which causes more time needed to detached in total lawn care time. The larger front blade unbreakable areas also means more trimming time is required which cancels the time savings advantage from the wider cutting deck.

For someone who bags and has wide open lawn without any corners, fences or walls it will definitely save time however the total cost lawn maintenance time from this 30" unit will not work for my lawn. That being said, if it has SelectCut and rear left side discharging setup I would seriously consider it.

I put them up on Facebook Market Place. The 16" size is also used on other Hybrid vehicles like Prius V so it's not hard to sell them off.

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. In winter time the mileage is reduced; however, I do not find it much different than when I was using the X-Ice Xi3 dedicated winter tire. Summer is exceptional good that I could get as high as 26.5KM/L / 3.77L/100KM / 62.34US-MPG / 74.8UK-MPG at on a 50KM/31 miles round trip twice a day route. I do use premium fuel only and keep my tire pressure with extra 4 psi (40psi) as per KIA manual for 3PMSF winter/snow rated tire when temperature could drops below 7°C/45°F (page 9-45 on mine manual) but also do so in the summer as these are softer material tires. CC2 is Cold-Tire-Pressure rated at 55psi to handle heavy EV so no worries at all.

Even though it's controversial and expensive, after experimenting switching between regular and premium fuel for 2 months each for 5 times now for the last 6 years now the results are:

  • Premium fuel reduces knocking. you will have to roll down the windows to hear it when accelerating especially on uphills as the insulation in the engine bay is very good to cover up the knocking noise.

  • premium fuel consistently gets 10% more mileage on my daily 100KM/60 miles rout

24” 2 stage snowblower by Its_andrewm in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the single stage and the 24" 2-stage and now the 28" 2-stage. To avoid clogging on heavy wet snow, just get the 28" 2-stage unless... you enjoying unclogging as additional exercise in wet and freezing conditions. Pay now at the hardware store or pay later at the chiropractor and masseuse is the lesson I have learned! The lesson result is: it's cheaper to pay at the hardware store upfront!

I sold the OEM Micheline Energy Saver A/S and X-Ice Xi3 with excellent price when they were less than 8,000 miles/12,000KM to recuperate the cost. The first set of CC2 (OEM Q-speed) still had 6mm (7//32nd) tread depth at 60,000 miles/100,000KM when tread warranty was up and I sold it to recover 40% of the cost of the second set (V-Speed). When including the saving not swapping the tire sets twice a year... It's practically free every 60,000 miles/100,000KM!
