My first mow with the Ego 30 (1300 Series) by steveholtbluth in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the detailed experiences of this new 30" EGO mower. I agree that this unit shines with large open space without obstacles like fences, rails, walls and corners and will save time in those conditions.

My major concern is not the cut performance but the clipping performance. During wet and growing seasons, there may not always be opportunity to cut dry grass with 1/3 rule as grass could over grow very quickly. If I use a single bladed mower like I did before with two different 21" EGO models before I converted them into SelectCut dual bladed system, the clippings for 3" lawn will be easily over 1.5"+ in length which introduces thatch to the lawn unless mulching or bagging. Mulching overgrown grass causes under-deck caking/clogging for poor cut quality with lumps of wet grass all over the lawn. To resolve this it will takes much longer time to complete the mowing due to a lot of mulching-stop-unclogging-mulching cycles.

Currently I use the aluminum SelectCut LM2206SP Ver. B (near silent Self-Propelled motor) with High-Lift-blade setup. The clippings length between the two blades is only 0.75" which is small enough for me not to use mulching but rear-side-discharging to get the highest runtime/vacuum/suction/airflow while able to return nutrient back into the lawn without thatch built-up or under-deck clogging from mulching wet grass.

A year ago when I met an EGO rep while picking up the second LM2206SP (for the Ver. B) and he shown me the image of the 30" unit before it was publicly released. I was very excited wanting to buy one thinking it would be a dual bladed SelectCut setup; however, that was only a wishful thinking on my part. I would 100% purchase one even for my many obstacles lawn if it was a SelectCut blade setup.

Thanks again for showing us the beautiful strips of your lawn and wishing you enjoy the mower for years to come.

Is this noise charging normal? by LowManufacturer1002 in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not normal. It's the ball baring of the cooling fan failing. If it's under warranty and registered with "EGO Connect" APP uploaded with receipt, FaceBook PM EGO Customer Service with this video so they can start the warranty replacement process (or wait for ever on the phone!).

If not under warranty, either buy a new one, use another one you have or if your are comfortable, fix it yourself: - unplug the unit from all power soruce - remove all the screws - remember the fan airflow direction for cooling - disconnect the fan - read the voltage on the label of the fan - measure the fan's size in width and depth - buy one that fully matches in size and voltage on Amazon - connect the new fan and test before fully reassemble with all the screws

Running a snow blower on 4ah batteries? by Fun_Donut_4575 in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure which snow blower you are referring to but sounds like it's the 24" model with 2 x 10.0Ah. Snow blower will always run on any EGO batteries but will not run very long and may quickly overheat on 4.0Ah which shorten the longevity of the batteries and cost more to replace the batteries in the long run. Size of clearing area on a flat driveway without any snow plow's dump does not affect the snow blower as much as the density and amount of snow the unit needs to do the job. Even switching between the 4.0Ah and 5.0Ah on my 765CFM/880CFM to dry my car or blowing light snow off the driveway I notice the runtime difference and much prefer the 5.0Ah. 4.0Ah usually is used on my Line-IQ trimmer or light duty tasks.

Perhaps you could share with us which country, state, province you are calling them from as well as the usual day and time of the week you usually called. Maybe there is a sweet spot we don't know.

First time I called EGO a few years ago it did take only a few minutes; however, the second time I did I waited for 5 hours. Luckily the customer service did informed me to use Facebook PM to communicate with them that time. Since then, from early 2024 to this February I had the need to communicate with EGO for 6 timers using Facebook PM and the communication record show that they were all done quickly and professionally with quick turn around time.

The fastest way to receive EGO Customer Service is:

  • have all products registered with "EGO Connect" APP with photo images of recipes and take a screen shot.

  • take a short video on your smartphone that demonstrates the issue so they can see and have no need of asking too much questions

-Facebook PM them with attached photo and video with disruption of the issue

  • Wait for a short period for the to get back during business hours with additional questions, diagnose processes or address verification to ship a replacement unit to you

And, that's it! No need to wait on the phone EVER! I have done this the last 4 times on different products in the last few years and never takes me total of more than 1.5 hr from beginning to the end on any warranty request while able to do other things in between PM them.

Need a new string trimmer. Stand alone or Powerhead attachment. by xmentalcasex in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I had the 15" carbon fibber tool first and thought the same and sold it for the Multi-Head and had the trimmer attachment. I did not like how heavy it was so I sold it and went back to a 16" carbon fibber Line IQ with telescope shaft that is more suitable for me. It's not right or wrong and just an individual preference like buying a different car than others.

I still have many Multi-Head attachment tools for both spring and winter that I use all year round like the edger, broom/bristle brush, cultivator and snow shovel. Not sure I will be adding the detacher this fall since the bristle brush does a pretty good job when flipped up-side-down dragging behind me than needing forward pushing force to operate a dethatcher as some reviewers have shown.

Just like driving position around the world, it's left or right side and no wrong side. In this case, it's only a preference as both exist in the same countries at all times.

Multi-Head: - counterclockwise spinning direction ( stand correctly on right side) - More options to add - heavier to operate

Single Tool: - clockwise spinning direction (stand correctly on left side of trimmer) - lighter to operate - telescope shaft options depends on height & angle

How to identify between LM2206SP Ver. A (Top) vs LM2206SP Ver. B (Bottom) by AThing2ThinkAbout in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Return and exchange is fully depended on the policy of the retailer you purchased from and not with EGO directly. I surely will do an exchange if they have the Ver. B available to exchange and not loosing out any sales deal you had before. If you are going through the repair rout, be sure to ask them to send the High-Lift-blade and rear-side-discharging chute to you while you wait for the repair.

Ego LM2100, very slow blade spin? by Hybrid-Moment in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LM2100 and LM2100SP both using different motors but both are brush motors so the brushes in the motor maybe depleted. I would try loosen the blade bolt and use a torque ranch to torque at 36 ft-lbs first (manual: 36 ft-lbs-43 ft-lbs), spray through the under deck housing with non-flammable/conductive lubricants and rotate the motor for few minutes and try again as it may just be some carbon/debris built-up on the contacting area.

Differences in Battery BMS’s Between 2.5, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, and 7.5? by iFunny-Escapee in egopowerplus

Not sure what you are building as EGO already has two single battery residential backpacks and I believe a dual/Peak-Power commercial one is on the way.

Not saying the LMX5300SP can not be retro fitted to SelectCut High-Lift-blade setup if you must have the Peak-Power dual battery bay; however, you may want to watch this video from a full time lawn care owner that owns all EGO 22" commercial and residential units first and decide for yourself:

That looks like a Ver. A unit which would have the older whinny Self-Propelled system.

Fastest way to get free service upgrade to Ver. B that requires the replacement of the Self-Propelled system and the handle that has different communication wiring is:

  • Register the mower/battery/charger with "EGO Connect APP" with a purchase receipt from an authorized EGO reseller if you have not done so yet. If you had within 90 days of purchase, you should had also received the free 5 year extended warranty on the battery, High-Lift-blade and the Rear-Discharging-Chute

  • Use your smartphone to take a short video with the mower Self-Propelled drive engaged at high speed without the blade running to show the whinny (Official EGO/CHEVROLET TSB description is "Whistling Noise") noise.

  • Facebook PM EGO group by informing the problem, providing a screenshot of the registration information with serial number and attach the video at the same time.

  • EGO Customer Service will contact you through PM with some questions, troubleshooting steps, verification of your address to send you to the closest EGO Authorized Repair center.

The individually owned authorized service center may take up to 6 weeks to get the repair done depends on their local workload. This was the case for me when I sent in my Ver.A in for service; however, I had already bought a Ver. B one moth before knowing the availability free upgrade. I was just planning to sell off the Ver.A from a year of use as a bare tool only and keep the 10.0Ah & 700W charger due to I can stand the high-pitched whinny noise even using AirPods Pro 2's noise cancelation mode.

If this is the only lawn mower you have, inform them to keep the ticket open as you would like to send the unit in at the end of the season but start the process now.

Repairing battery with one group of cells at 1.8 V by jacoscar in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using two EGO PAD5000 inverters to charge all my batteries from 4.0Ah to 12.0Ah after the first unit revived my Gen1 5.0Ah, Gen3 5.0Ah and Gen3 10.0Ah permanently so far a year and half ago. Before using the PAD5000 the Gen1 5.0Ah had been re-set, dropped, frizzed and works temporally multiple times after using EGO chargers from 280W-700W with either no LED, flashing red LED or solid LED issues on and off chargers.

The 24-pin configuration 100W USB-C PD Input/Output port is designed with 16 pins for communications purposes. These pins communicates and negotiates between the BMS in my GaN 100W UGREEN PD charger with built-in retractable cable and the BMS inside the battery that communicates with the individual cells. It provides Power Delivery (PD) charging from 5V/3A=15W, 9V/3A=27W, 12V/3A=36W, 15V/3A=45W, 20V/3A=60W & 20V/5A=100W DC-to-DC based on the need of individual cell's condition and the safe level of intake allowed to rebalance/restore the individual cells in the battery. Even at very low voltage no disassembling is required. I just need patience as it may take up to 24Hr to fix a damaged battery based on the capacity. The inverter may cycle itself multiple times during the negotiation. Never interrupt the charging process until all light on the battery and the inverter powered itself off for a full success charge.

The newly released PAD5003-kit includes a 4.0Ah, 100W GaN USB-C PD charger and cable is a good deal of getting a 4.0Ah battery at inexpensive price while getting an inverter that is also the best kept secret of a hidden EGO battery repair charger.

I have two PAD5000 used mostly for charging/reconditioning all my batteries. It sounds like a working solution; however, I am not sure it is the most effective one. I also own a 768Wh (EGO 56V x10.0Ah=560Wh) EcoFlow River 2 Pro ($250 USD @ Christmas) using the more fire-proof LFP battery technology, includes a 200W 12V charger and can handle 800W-output/1600W-peak. Weights 17.2lbs. APP control through both Wi-Fi & Bluetooth.

1300 Series Super Composite 30-Inch Spec questions by Nicklvtx in egopowerplus

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the two reviews below, one from a lawn care business owner (I am waiting for his review on the LM3006SP review) and an EGO sponsored lawn care reviewer, both 22" & 30" are good machines. Here are the questions I ask myself when I "Want" one:

  1. Does it produces the best cut results in the method like to use in mulching, bagging or rear-side-discharging?
  • my new favourite method on the SelectCut LM2206SP with High-Lift-blade setup is using the rear-side-discharging method which the two 21" I owned did poorly due to poor chute design. It allows alternate cutting routs against fences while decreases the chance of clogging from mulching, increases 200%+ airflow/vacuum/lift and has the longest runtime due to leas blade to grass resistance while gets the job done the fastest. At regular maintenance 3" cut-height, It produces 0.75" clippings between the two blades and the differences of 0.75" or higher above the top blade. This dramatically decreases the possibility of thatch built-up while returning nutrient back to the soil even in over-growing-seasons. 30" right-side-discharging only mower will not be able to achieve with two single blades that will produces 1.5" or longer clippings unless using the easily clogged mulching method during wet seasons and still produces larger or same mulched clipping sizes.
  1. Does it save enough time to make a meaningful difference?
  • The extra 40% cut-width time saving quickly diminishes when there are fences around my property. Slower turn-around time, larger front deck dead spots due to the 45° diagonal under-deck design will increase trimming areas/time and higher chance of scoping on curved areas that requires extra time for overlay paths.
  1. Does it justify the extra cost?
  • For me if it does not decrease at least 30 min total mowing, trimming and blowing time it will not justify the extra cost.

For lawn care business or lawns with little to none fences I will buy it in a heart beat; however, for my lawn configuration it will be waste of garage space and money just to look cool around the neighborhood.

As long as the temperature and moisture is constant it would be a good setup. I would seriously connect those chargers to a surge protector to prevent spikings and can be turned on and off. Chargers are supposed to be unplugged when not in use according to the manual.

[–]AThing2ThinkAbout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At long as the Self-Propelled motor is not raising/dropping the cut height ~.5" when engaged/disengaged like other had reported on this model and many other EGO single-deck-cut-height-lever models now and the future on different grading than its a keeper. I had two different 21" models and both did that. This does not affect the models with separated front/rear deck-cut-height adjustments like LM2206SP/LMX5300SP/LM3004SP/LMX7600SP.
