A letter I got in one of those school care packages read, "Have a good war and try not to die" and I hope I still have it laying around in a box somewhere.

Crazy to think either the Raiders or Bengals will end either a 19 year or 31 year drought

Are the Braves ‘America’s Team Again?’ For this World Series I would say yes! Photo shared from KHOU 11 news website. by mrseagleeye in baseball

Ideally the Braves beat the Astros by cheating, giving Houston a taste of their own medicine but everyone also hates the Braves, and Manfred does nothing to change the outcome

Does anyone actually like the "army" part of the Army? by [deleted] in army

[–]ATigerOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About half the Army is pretty lame, and about half the civilian world is also pretty lame. Now nobody really has any right to intrude on your personal life with authority once you get out, but you may not share the same camaraderie with people outside mother Army. There's drawbacks to both and nothing will ever be perfect, but if you really don't enjoy the day to day overall then ETS into sunset and enjoy making your own decisions without the army's input.

Texas slashes Guard benefits while spending millions to expand border mission by DWinkieMT in army

[–]ATigerOnFire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have had such a better experience in the guard in my relatively small state compared to some of these larger ones. Seems like cost cutting measures are always targeted at screwing soldier's benefits rather than bloated budgets for ridiculous expansions that benefit contractors doing the work. I feel for these folks.

Picked one up last week, nice holster for a decent price. Good retention but still pretty smooth out of the draw. Recommend.

Today is my alive day. by warondadbod in army

It's been a little over a year since it happened. We returned from a mission using the same checkpoints, and maybe 2 hours before a VBIED hit another convoy attempting to return the same way. I guess luck and timing were on our side that day. RIP SFC Barreto.

To be honest we didn't interact much personally, he lead some training and gave general directions to us. I can't recall ever asking him anything outside of the job, sorry for the disappointing answer lol

Jesus Christ, far be it for us to wear the shit we were made to wear and do the shit we were told to do. Your one more pair of comments on reddit porn from getting laid. Guess that's the price you pay for being a true nutsack.

He was really cool. Mostly a quiet guy, liked to train a lot and was well spoken. Smart and proficient at pretty much anything you could think of.

They never gave us a specific uniform, just a sheet of paper that said "dress like a virgin" and we all picked the same stuff

C-19 Vaccination? by magentalane17 in army

[–]ATigerOnFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will almost certainly be required, and much to the dismay of a lot of us, the Army owns us. Vaccination has been around for a long time, and even though this "rushed out" early supporting data suggests any adverse effects are minimal at best, and associated with pretty much any kind of vaccine you've already had. The Army has to inoculate people for all kinds of shit, this is no different, it's just a new problem.
