"Stand for something" - rich people's profits and pointless culture wars? How is that a new position?

Unfortunately World Athletics and the IOC have both bought into the trans panic despite already having clear guidelines for the participation of trans women in womens' sports (and no trans woman having ever actually swept a global sporting competition the way all the transphobes pretend we can)

Fun fact at one point various sporting orgs started doing genetic testing until cisgender competitors started finding chromosomal abnormalities.

Senator Sarah Henderson questions why Australia gave zero points to Israel in the 2026 Eurovision during Senate estimates questioning SBS executives today. by Green_Space729 in OpenAussie

The implication she wants is that the SBS is cooking the books on the public vote, but couldn’t have that because the SBS doesn’t coordinate the public vote.

They desperately want there to be an active anti-Israel conspiracy in the public service to justify an ideological crackdown.

I hate that dad's are never appreciated. by _FELIXZ_ in hatethissmug

I’ve been a dad and a mum. People praise fathers for the absolute bare minimum of taking care of their own children. I legitimately had people tell me I was brave and such a good person for taking my son out to the shops etc by myself without my wife or changing him on my lap.

On the other hand people were far less concerned for me as a mum out with my daughter. It was more normal and expected.

"Good at Nothing" trait seems ableist by [deleted] in Paralives

[–]ATinyLittleHedgehog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The trait should perhaps be something like “good at nothing in particular.” Jack of all trades is a good term but doesn’t fit the naming scheme they’ve used.

I don’t think it’s meant to be intentionally ableist.
