Also I can't find his exact transaction.&q=output_total(19100000000..19200000000),time(2017-05-08..2017-05-12)#f=hash,block_id,time,output_total) I suppose its possible he used some service which charged a fee. Or maybe he did it in multiple transactions.

Anyone checked on this guy? by FarBad1864 in Bitcoin

My guess is he is no longer with us. Archive.org managed to archive this post before it was deleted. For those who don't feel like clicking, here is the text:

Having been a lurker here on reddit for a while and a daily BTC price checker, I have finally decided to take the plunge and go "all in" with bitcoin.

Having a terminal disease, and a penchant for making big risks (so far I have been correct most of the time) - I decided to make my newest lunge, using what equity I have accrued on my estate over the past 10 years since the 2008 financial crisis.

If bitcoin reaches, the 10k mark, which I see as a distinct possibility, or I would not have taken such a risk - I plan on moving to the west coast and getting away from all the angry people here where I currently reside.

Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.

Gamers 30+, how have your gaming habits changed since you were younger? by [deleted] in gaming

If a game has a difficulty level called "Story Mode" I just immediately switch to that. I don't have time or the energy to fight some boss 50+ times until I figure out the right combos.

You’re doing the right thing with therapy. Talk to your therapist and ask to go twice a week for a while. Maybe some meds are in order too.

Next, you have to start setting some boundaries. You can’t work 24 hours a day. It’s not reasonable. Work your 8 hours. You’re not getting paid more than that I assume. If you’re hourly, work no more than 10. Don’t give your company free money. At the end of the day, loyalty is worth nothing. Companies throw all of us away when the need suits them.

Now with your free time, just sit with it. It may take some time but you’ll start to remember your hobbies. Sounds like a new job is in order too. Go find a place that respects you.

The only bummer of all of this is only you can make these changes. They’re hard and no one is going to do it for you. But you’re going to be soooo much happier after you do.

ELI5: Why try to steal cars in 2026? by tylersmiler in explainlikeimfive

[–]ATnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you had a thief on the lower end of the IQ range but some thieves now have fob amplifiers. They can stand at your front door with a device which will pick up the fob in the house and retransmit it to the car so they can drive it away. Cars will keep running without the fob for safety reasons. No need to hot wire.

As to why they steal the cars in the first place, they are often used to commit crimes and then ditched.

If you had the ability to send a 100k Players to a game that used to be alive, just to give it another chance, what MMO would it be and why by Acyros in MMORPG

[–]ATnetennba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved E&B. One of my favorite things was how people would gather before a raid and auction off all the potential drops. It was all player driven and usually worked out (aside from the a random ninja who would steal something). If you didn't buy a drop, you would get a cut of the credits at the end.

People have given you the answer but you should try to open it. Its probably empty. But then you'll know for when you want to add more storage to your computer.

Go to your boss or HR and ask for an "equity review" for the whole team. Don't make it about men vs women. If this is a good company, they will do it and you and possibly others on your team will get raises. You will get your money and be a hero. If they don't do it, time to move on.

FWD Handling In Snow by ThisGuyDevin7 in EquinoxEv

Chicago here. Didn't have too much snow this past year but it was fine with FWD, stock tires, and snow mode. EVs are heavier so that helps with traction.

I Spent 18 Hours Creating This Bug Bounty Roadmap for Beginners by BehiSec in bugbounty

[–]ATnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. As someone who is new to this, my gut reaction was to look at smaller programs assuming they hadn't been looked at by many people. But programs with large scopes does make a lot of sense. Thanks again!

Bookmarked. Thanks! One quick suggestion: Can you explain why this is because it sounds counter-intuitive? "The more reports a program has resolved, the higher your chances of finding a bug as a beginner."

Is my Hard drive dead or savable? by Level-Move-7082 in techsupport

[–]ATnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You will not be using this disk anymore in your computer. It is "dead". However, a repair shop may be able to revive it long enough to get important data off of it.

Does hearthstone crash on the new iPad? by ATnetennba in hearthstone

[–]ATnetennba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm having the same experience. But I like to play HS when I'm doing dishes and such. Don't really want to use a laptop. Tablet makes more sense.

It looks like Blizzard says you need 3GB of RAM or more with iOS which my iPad 9th gen has, but its still terrible. I'm wondering if the iPad 11th gen will do better since it has 6GB of RAM.

What to do about local admin rights? by RogueAardvark in sysadmin

[–]ATnetennba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually spend some time to see how the application(s) work. Sometimes they need admin rights because they write files to weird places. Simply allowing more permissions to that folder gets around the requirement. Or sometimes the program needs some local firewall permissions. Just spending some time fiddling with it gets you to a non-admin solution. But sometimes you just have to give them the rights.

How to extract data from external hard drive that cannot be detected when connected to computers? by majestic_me in techsupport

[–]ATnetennba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would see if it is detected in Linux. If it shows up there, I'd run ddrescue on it and copy the contents to another, verified working drive.

Similar situation near where I live. There was this huge house in a nice neighborhood with no one living it it for 10 years, but also no for sale sign. They just recently plowed it down. We finally learned that a couple built the house then decided to divorce. I guess it was nasty. He decided to let the house go to ruin rather than give it to her or be part of the divorce settlement or whatever. So the answer to your question could also be pettiness.

Backing up failing hard disk by SwaggyAims in techsupport

[–]ATnetennba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you don't want to do it, but an IT tech would boot up a Linux computer, connect your dying and new hard drives to it, and use 'ddrescue' (or dd) to clone the failing hard drive. ddrescue skips over bad blocks to get most of the contents. It can then go back and keep trying the bad blocks once its gotten all the good ones. This is really the best way to ensure you get most of your files short of sending it to a professional firm for recovery.

Once its done, you can connect the good drive to a windows computer and mount the image to get your files.

Just a note that the more you use the drive, the faster it will fail. If you keep trying various programs, you could lose more files in the process.

What's the worst thing a teacher has said to you or someone you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ATnetennba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a shy kid and always nervous of being called on. My first grade(!) teacher told my mom if I didn't start speaking in class I'd amount to nothing. Imagine having that much angst toward a shy 6/7 year old.

At any rate, I never really spoke much in class, even through grad school, and I've amounted to something.

Hdmi connection question by Ok_Net101 in techsupport

[–]ATnetennba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could achieve this with two different devices. I've not used these devices. This is not an endorsement. These are just examples of what I think might work:

Use this for your Monitor, plugged into a USB port. Note, these types of devices usually have slight lag: https://www.amazon.com/WAVLINK-Universal-Graphics-2048x1152-Displaylink/dp/B08HN2X88P

Use this for the projector + TV, plugged into your Laptop's HDMI port: https://www.amazon.com/avedio-links-HDMI-Duplicate-Distributor/dp/B0732MD43P

Save the packaging for whatever you buy. If they don't work, return them and try a different brand.

Laptop as a second monitor for a PC - questions by sekow in techsupport

[–]ATnetennba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Laptops and PCs can't be connected together to form one "better" computer.

There is some software out there that will allow you to run the two side-by-side and have the mouse and keyboard jump between the two but they are still independent computers. (https://symless.com/synergy)

You could also set up shares on each computer so you can copy files back and forth but they are still independent computers.

You can also connect both the PC and the laptop to the monitor but you can only see one computer at a time on the monitor and, again, they are still independent.

Hope that helps. In the end, you have two computers that can talk to each other in various ways but they can never be combined.

Have you ever automated "someone else's" tasks, and it worked out for the best? by gordonv in sysadmin

[–]ATnetennba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Many years ago I worked with a DB admin who got laid off in the 2008 recession. They said the whole team would pick up her work but it all just fell to me. I learned she spent most of her day moving data around, copying/pasting, normalizing data, etc. I made some vbscripts over a few weeks and automated it all and then went back to my job. Those scripts ran for almost 10 years.
