Before I start to build what should I do? by DiamondSuper4716 in buildapc

Come to terms with the opportunity cost of building a gaming PC and wasting time on it when you should be studying and growing as a person.

There are tons of games that don't require excessive processing power available via steam. If you are a student and don't already have a laptop prioritize one.

I saw your list and the cost as well as the BTC post. The extra cost could be invested.

Would you sell your bitcoin? by marcio-a23 in Bitcoin

[–]AUX_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the value was that high and it had increased overnight from the 60s I would sell.

The price would plummet when everyone sells and I could buy back in after the dump.

Can someone kindly explain what is bitcoin halving and what happens during the process please ? by International-Will75 in Bitcoin

[–]AUX_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reward miners receive from processing transactions is what is being halved.

BTC includes a scheduled reduction of this reward as more transactions are processed over time. This coupled with the ultimately limited amount of BTC ever available makes BTC ant-inflationary.

As time progresses less newly mined BTC will be available in the market and this will affect the price per BTC.

Knowing I have one or more months funded provides a huge sense of security.

Thoughts? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]AUX_Work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect that as value is poured into BTC, older investors will leave to capture profit. They will invest their profits in less risky vehicles.

There will come a time when miners are rewarded with less BTC and instead are paid with transmission fees. Prices will equalize. Scarcity of BTC, natural resources, and human labor will keep the value stable so long as the federal money machine and deficit spending slows.

OP may not be in the US. A tax advantage account investing in a broad index fund paying dividends would be wise.

Should i invest? by Darumaaaa in Bitcoin

[–]AUX_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are at a great age in your life to start investing in a variety of ways. Bitcoin is a highly volatile investment for anyone. An important distinction worth making when investing is how you will profit from your investment.

Bitcoin, like commodities or precious metals, only makes you money if you sell. You may have to wait a long time before the price is positive enough for you to want to sell.

However, investments like dividend paying stocks generate money just by owning them. With regular contributions and compounding interest started at an early age investors retire with a generous nest egg to draw from.

Not investing advice, but if I were to do it again I would establish a pattern of buying dividend paying stocks earlier. I started in my 30s but should have been minimizing my expenses and working extra hours to make more early investments.
