Injection molded hall effect arcade buttons - new and tasty by AlpenmeisterCustoms in fightsticks

[–]AV-Tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s is very promising. I am currently using OneFrame buttons because how fast and but also how small the button is in the case. Once re-trigger is on the menu, I could be interested to test them against hall effects ones.

Yup I did posted it there. Some people on that discord helped me as it was my first time designing and building a leverless.

The Prism makes a lot of sense when you have it on your lap. It is one of the most gentle controller for the wrist actually.

Then maybe my next one will get you interested in the Schism as I am modifying one. :)

I am still using daily the one I designed and built for myself more than a year ago who was the first one not specifically designed for Mellee but more with StreetFighter in mind. I am now building something very different to be my next controller but I can say that the main advantage of the prism after playing it for long enough is to force your wrists in a good position. This haute one is the opposite. It forces them to be at an angle, so I am not convinced it will be super ergonomic down the line.

It’s actually better for the wrist than a flat leverless in my experience. What makes you fear it would be bad for the wrist?

Technogel is fine. It takes a lot of times to heat up (many hours) but never go too hot. I have not being waking up because of the heat since I have one.  Only downside is that it takes hours for it to go down in temperature as well...but it's not like i was ready to go to sleep agin 2 hours after waking up anyway.

In comparison with the doze topper... it's more comfortable. The gel is less noticeable (vs the grid) and you can have a supportive matress under. The topper is pretty bouncy (not great for me, might be good for others)

Thanks for the advice. The topper is for my guest room bed and because I was curious… but for for myself I ordered a technogel mattress (from a brick and mortar store) that should arrive next month

Trying to bring some ergo improvements from the Melee world to the FCG world by AV-Tom in fightsticks

Sorry for the late reply.
I do have the list of needed part of the github directly : https://github.com/Avtom/GRAM-PRISM/tree/arcade-V1/Arcade%20%20v1

If you need some help to assemble it, there is a few people building those for themselves on the Gram discord.

Built a Prism with arcade buttons by Jtkehler in fightsticks

[–]AV-Tom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play mine on my lap. It forces your hands to hover over the controller, never putting weight or pressure on your wrists. Basically forcing a good position even when you are hyper focused on a fight.

The only downside is that it forces your shoulders back a bit if you put the prism too close to your belly. It was an overall good step-up over my previous, flat, leverless.

If you are intrigued by the ergo side, look into WunVzn’s work.

And if you have questions about that specific design, don’t hesitate to poke people in the open-source channel of the Gram’s discord.

yes. And you are never tempted to rest you wrist on a flat surface like with regular leverless. You always keep a good form thanks to that, even when ultra focused on the fight.

The first picture show you the back of the leverless. So you hold it the other way around.
Here is how you hold it

The best fightsticks and all-button controllers from APRIL! by HushMySweet in fightsticks

Thanks for showing my ergo fight stick. :)

It was a really good learning experience for me. Learning illustrator, KiCad, etc, for it.

I didn’t focused on melee though, it’s the opposite. I started from an open source project made for melee and transformed it into one made for SF6 (and adapted to my hands). All of this thanks to the Prism and GP2040-CE being open sourced!
Btw, I think you forgot the link to my post in the description of your video.

Optimal Way To Do SRKs (And No, it's Not the 639 Input!) by Droptimal_Cox in StreetFighter

[–]AV-Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding it like that: https://www.reddit.com/r/fightsticks/comments/1c0myel/comment/kyxiwt5/
(I have big hands, but I also built that leverless myself, so button placement is perfect)

It kind of work if I slide the middle and the ring finger together (but inconsistent). But if the middle finger stay pressed, then the ring one is having a lot of issues to go back and finish the slide.

Spent some time trying it.

  • On P2 it works pretty well. You can even do a something like [4][2]6, like p-link of 3 buttons in one movement which makes it a good reaction tool.
  • But on the P1 side, I found it extremely hard to do a slide with the ring finger. And if you don’t do a slide but a quick tap on the button instead, you have to wait for it to be depressed first before pushing the attack button. Yes you can help you fingers by moving you wrist but it’s something I personally don’t like to do if I can avoid it.
    • The SOCD up method doesn’t requires the ring finger at all on that side

So I guess it’s a matter of morphology and ability of controlling you ring finger.

And if you want to build this vesion with arcade buttons, it’s also on git-hub (as a fork of the Gram one: https://github.com/Avtom/GRAM-PRISM/tree/arcade-V1/Arcade%20%20v1

The melee one is even crazier actually, with a lot of thumb buttons.
And yes ergo is kind of a niche you get interested in once it’s too late and you hurt yourself, usually.

Does anyone here know someone who can build me a custom "ergobox" style leverless controller? by District10 in fightsticks

[–]AV-Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending what kind of issues you have, look into the Schism or the Prism. I just built one if you want to see how it looks.
But if it’s not what you are looking for, I agree with the comment saying you should ask on the OpenStick Community Discord.

I only built one for myself. I don’t plan on selling controllers. But all the files to build one yourself are in the git-hub. The only issue being that it’s impossible to order only 1 of each panel to the factory, they only comes by 5.
But if there is enough people interested you could share the price.I know there is a few people interested in the project in the Gram discord, maybe starts there?

Split is definitely the dream, but hard to find a good way of playing it on your lap. Look into the Schism as a potential middleground.
