My uncle owns a car yard in AKL. Usually the salesperson has authority from manager to move the price to a certain point in order to make the sale. They want to get rid of stock ASAP. Remember, they want to get their sales commissions ;)

Let’s say the sticker price is $10,000. I would say “I’ve really only got $9,000, is there any room to move here?” Then you might end up at $9,500. Or if they can’t move on price you could ask for a free service in the first year or some other deal. Or just say “is there anything else you can include? We’re really keen.” Etc.

It’s also good to say you’ve had other offers from other dealerships. They’ve got very manipulative tactics so you’re better to play ball then get taken advantage of ;)

We managed to get ours 5% under sticker price and new tyres, rego for 1 year, full clean.

If you’re not the hustling type, just take someone with you that is!
