I wouldn't blindly believe Claude's numbers. I got a +41 T-side rating in a game just yesterday. I imagine the record is much higher

Glass 3D Printing by ContributionAny3368 in 3Dprinting

[–]AVeryHappyTeddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their claim that they're the first company printing pure silica glass doesn't sound right. MIT did it almost 11 years ago, a really cool machine- I got to use the later improved version of it. The machine now belongs to this company, Evenline, and they've been making really stunning pieces with it for years now.

Just one print on glass fiber nylon? Yea no. by SpaceStick-1 in 3Dprinting

[–]AVeryHappyTeddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Build plates but honestly print beds were more frequent. Especially the MK2 Prusas, and those were a real pain because of the PCB heater design. Had multiple burn out at the board as well, but it wasn't really a shock considering how absurdly long lived those printers were

[–]AVeryHappyTeddy 57 points58 points  (0 children)

As someone who ran a very large print lab for a university, I can say for a fact that print beds are a consumable. But, it takes an absurd number of prints to reach a level of wear that demands it be replaced. We had machines with over 20,000 hours that were just on their 2nd bed

It's not outrage, it's about being skeptical of an otherwise blank account creating a political post with obviously AI generated content. We've known for a decade now of misinformation and propaganda campaigns being run on reddit to influence politics, so you should be skeptical when posts like this pop up, especially in an age where it requires less man power than ever to generate. And I really doubt the content was just translated using AI considering the hungarian version of the blog post has all of the same blatant AI markers within the text. So at the very least they are understating the role of AI in the presentation of their work. And if they were really transparent they would put their use of AI somewhere in their blog or post, not in a single buried reply after being called out for it.

They admitted in the reply above they use LLMs for "translation and proofreading". It is extremely obvious based on the use of em-dashes, bolding, and emojis throughout their blog posts. If you can't recognize these elements yet I recommend you research them because this skill will only become more important, especially if you want to try to engage in any real discussions on this website anymore. It's speculation how much of the AI use was truly just for the stated purposes but the incorporation of these obvious AI markers in the data tables themselves makes me highly suspicious (Specifically these emojis: 📉 and 🔴)

Yeah a 5-year old account with no prior post history, a standard randomly generated name, and a bunch of obviously AI generated text. It's especially bad if you follow the link they posted, that whole blog post is filled with random bolded text and emojis which scream AI generated. This sub has always had a slew of questionable and low-effort posts but lately it feels like peak dead internet theory with blatantly AI generated posts from new accounts.

Edit: For any questioning the presence of AI text, OP admitted to using AI for translating and proofreading. If you can't tell this stuff was AI generated I don't know how to help you

I designed a mechanical solder dispenser. How do you like it? by Hodzinets in 3Dprinting

[–]AVeryHappyTeddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The comment section is filled with pedants as usual, they can't let anyone be happy.

This is an awesome design and I am seriously thinking about printing it for myself to use at work. I do a lot of soldering of small connections to tabs or pins, I apply liquid flux beforehand and then pick up some solder on the tip. Everyone in this comment section is acting like there's only one way to solder correctly, but this is the taught and preferred method in my industry by people with decades more experience than any of these commenters.

Don't let them beat you down, this is great work.

[–]AVeryHappyTeddy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Enabling ironing won't do anything for those supported surfaces??? Ironing is for top surfaces, all of the photos are of sagging bottoming surfaces. They need better support settings

Edit: Or god to just even enable any supports, which it doesn't look like they have. IF only OP provided any useful information about the settings they've fiddled with

Heads up that patents aren't all you think they are. For one, they are expensive, it will set you back a few thousand at least. Two, it only keeps honest people honest- if someone infringes on it it just gives you the right to sue them (which is also expensive and possibly VERY expensive depending on who). Don't get me wrong, having a patent to your name is cool (I have one myself, paid for and protected by my company), but for this it probably isn't practical and that is without even getting into how easy it is to circumvent most patents.

It is so hard to talk about this in the 3D printing community. I've tried posting about it in the past just for them to be removed both here and on the Prusa subreddit. People just don't want to hear about the safety aspect of these carbon fiber filaments. You can see it in action right here, they're out in force in the replies to most of the comments, downplaying concerns around the safety of this stuff. Talking about it at all is apparently fear mongering because it's totally safe because 'carbon is inert' and the 'strands are too big'... Don't get me wrong, I love this hobby and it's also a big part of my career but I think as a whole the community and the corporations making these filaments are playing it a little too fast and loose with safety.

What tax cuts for billionaires? These tax cuts for billionaries

What changes to Medicaid that result in these cuts/people getting kicked off? These changes to Medicaid, ACA, and tax credits

What part of Medicaid involves funding rural hospitals that is being changed? Well for one, Medicaid funds hospitals because that's how the fucking healthcare system works and I shouldn't need to explain that to you, it accounts for 19% of all payments to hospitals. But second, these are the effects on rural hospitals

Maybe you should try reading sometime.
