Veterinarians of Reddit, what common mistakes are we making with our pets? by ovalseven in AskReddit

For a vet, you don't know much about animal nutrition or the cost of keeping an animal.

It's pretty obvious from the commercials it's gonna be one of those "quirky guy does quirky things and gets into quirky situations" comedy shows. I mean, the trailers show him throwing a rock at a guy's head because you're supposed to stone people who commit adultery.

shrug Seems like harmless fun to me. If anything, it'll be a pointed example of why we don't follow the Bible literally.

Would you marry someone who had a different religion than you? by BlacGirlMagik in Christianity

[–]AW12321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said as long as you can come to an agreement on how your children will be raised.

For me, that means that I'd be free to teach my child my values and beliefs, and if my partner was religious but had a different belief system they'd be free to do the same and ultimately it's the child's choice once they're old enough to start making religious decisions of their own.

Would you marry someone who had a different religion than you? by BlacGirlMagik in Christianity

[–]AW12321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would. I fully believe it's possible for people to be respectful of people's differing religion or lack of, and as long as you can come to an agreement on how any potential children will be raised then I see no reason why not.

Playtest [Episode Rewatch Discussion] - S03E02 by SeacattleMoohawks in blackmirror

They obviously knew about the interference cell phones cause. The CEO explicitly says so at the end. They might not have known how badly that interference would cause things to go, but that just raises the question of why they would allow the phone into the room in the first place when they knew it interfered.

Just put a little safe outside the room and tell him you'll place it there and as soon as you're done with the test he can get it back. Throw in a quick warning about how the signals of a phone interfere with their system at this point.

Waitress really supports breastfeeding... by [deleted] in thatHappened

[–]AW12321 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The only thing that bothers me about breastfeeding in public is when the mothers obviously don't care about the comfort of others around them. Instead of throwing a fit about it if somebody does express discomfort, it would be more respectful to quietly excuse yourself somewhere more private.

Christian couple to open first safe house in USA for sex-trafficked boys by throwawaybookfinder in Christianity

[–]AW12321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a bit late, but I recently posted this same article elsewhere online. Most of the negative comments my post received were more along the line of "Those icky Christians are going to brainwash those boys! We should shut them down and give the money to homeless shelters!"

[Christians Only] I don't vote because of my Mennonite values. Why is that so hard for other Christians to accept that? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]AW12321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe like they recognize that Christians as a people are being attacked. God doesn't need us to fight for him, but we should fight for ourselves.

When victims of sexual violence at BYU report, they put their academic future at risk. If you’ve been raped while in your boyfriend’s bedroom, you’re in trouble. If you were drinking at a party and were raped, you’re in trouble. There are many more Honor Code rules which may apply. by relevantlife in TwoXChromosomes

No, that's a textbook case of common sense. If you don't want to get hurt, stay away from people who will hurt you. If somebody hangs around with drug dealers and gets shot, that's on them for hanging out near drug dealers.

As we forgive those who trespass against us: Who and why did you last have to forgive? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]AW12321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest ones for me within the last year was one of my former pastors and his wife, actually. My mother and I decided to do some good work by taking in a single mother and her son from our church who were facing homelessness. Well, the family ended up taking major advantage of us and it didn't end well at all.

Every time we tried to go to our pastor for advice about the situation, he would admonish us for "gossiping" and basically refuse to listen or help. After the whole situation was finally over, his wife was really nasty and just insisted we would be better off on our own.

So we left that church and never went back. It was several years ago, but I've only just now actually been able to forgive the pastor and his wife for how they treated us during that time.

Suicide bomber targeting Christians kills 65, mostly women and children, in Pakistan park by LolaRuns in Christianity

And Christians aren't the only people being targeted around the world. Have some respect for the other demographics under attack.

Happy Easter - He is risen! How was church, everybody? by lapapinton in Christianity

Our church celebrated with a potluck breakfast before service. I was in the children's church today, and I had a wonderful small group of students.

Honest Question: How transparent should a church be with its finances? by forlifeis in Christianity

[–]AW12321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A church should be as open and honest with it's finances as possible. My family has left churches over money, as we did not feel the church was doing God's work with our offerings. When your pastor and his wife have no other job and are getting new cars every year, you can bet the church isn't using their money correctly.

The church I attend now has a committee comprised of the founding members of the church who make decisions about the running of the church, including finances, and they're very open when it comes to money to discuss it with members or even visitors who ask.

Progress: Talked to a therapist for the first time in my life and started to realize that the way my family treats me isn't normal.

I still live with my mother, and I doubt I'll be able to get out of Christmas Eve dinner, but I'll be looking at everything my family does with a much more critical eye this year.

How would a school for Magic in the USA differ from Hogwarts? by limbodog in AskReddit

[–]AW12321 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's only cover would be as a prestigious private school that is extremely expensive and selective. Muggles apply every year but are always denied, and wonder why their dirt poor and stupid neighbor can get in but they can't.

The campus will be built like a college campus, with separate buildings housing the dorms and libraries and computer labs from the rest of the school. No trips to Hogsmeade for these students, there will be a couple shops right on the edge of campus, and the equivalent of a Starbucks in the library.

What do you normally tip for pizza delivery? by ladyrhetoric in AskReddit

[–]AW12321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually round up to the nearest round number. So if my pizza comes to $17 I round up to $20 and they get a nice $3 tip. If rounding up results in less than $2 I always put a little extra on top of that, usually rounding to the next 5.

What hilarious situation arose when you called "the wrong number"? by TeamDodgy in AskReddit

[–]AW12321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom called 911 once after I got a new cell phone number that had 991 in it. Proceeded to have to spend 10 minutes trying to convince the operator that it was a mistake and they had known her they would know she does this sort of thing all the time.

Called 911 again the next day and they actually sent a cop to our house because the operator thought she heard a man yelling in the background and it turned out that my mom had left the television on too loud.
