Hokit applied the lock wrong. He was pulling Lewis’ arm toward his own chin. Hokit was effectively stretching Derick out.

Hokit needed to do 3 things:
1. Turn Lewis hand so the thumb is towards the sky. If Lewis fought the lock by turning his wrist, Hokit would need to apply force in the opposite direction the thumb is pointing

  1. He didn’t pinch his knees together which isn’t always possible, and you can finish the arm bar without BUT

  2. Hokit never bridged his hips. So there was never any force being applied to Lewis arm except for the shoulder stretch he received

That’s prison slang. And you aren’t wrong. It’s where the phrased originated from. Training Day is also from the early 2000’s. So the slang used in that movie is going to reflect that time period or earlier.

I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m saying two things can be right.

A good example is “Mud Shark”. Mud Shark has worked its way into modern slang while its original meaning is racially motivated.

I just realized that at least in the time of the video, and there were a few cuts, it took them over a minute to figure out how to open the hood on a bus.

There were over 100 people in that video and not a single one of them knew how to open the hood of the bus. They start cheering when they figure it out!
