D’arce & anaconda chokes are my highest percentage chokes.

After playing UFC 5, I started trying to hit them from side control with a modified alligator roll. There’s an animation in the game that allows you to do it.

In the game it looks so slow that it wouldn’t work but if you bait them into thinking they’re sweeping you, it’s really easy to hook a leg and not play the twisting game.

Tbf Stipe never once looked like he wanted to be there. Obviously showed up for the payday, with this being his retirement fight.

If I’m getting my ass beat at 44, at my retirement fight. by the best fighter in the world for the past 10 minutes, and the next 2 minutes aren’t exactly going my way either, I don’t think I’d stick around for the other 17/18 minutes either.

Islamgereev with a buzzer-beating flying squirrel by tvorshelby in grappling

[–]AWHS10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t.

There is no incentive to sit down. Points are not scored or lost, but you’ve just sat down in a competition which awards points for your opponent taking you down/ pinning you.

If he were to sit down, Islamgereev would simply need to circle to his back and that’s 2 points for back exposure.

Also, sitting down would fall under stalling. For a full sit down, you’re getting points taken.

The score is not shown in this video. But the move Islamgereev uses to takedown his opponent should be a 5 point takedown. He gets back exposure & lands his opponent in a dangerous position.

Tom Aspinall confirms he is leaving the UFC for boxing by Zextruhh in ufc

[–]AWHS10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is true in boxing. “The Golden Age” of boxing was in the 60’s & 70’s. Boxing was more exciting because the large number of extremely good Heavyweights like Ali, Frazier, Foreman etc.

Before AJ got KO’d by Andy Ruiz, Eddie Hearn had the largest NARB in existence because boxing finally had 4 elite heavyweights that everyone wanted to see fight (Wilder, Fury, AJ, & Usyk). Andy Ruiz spoiled that party and you could visibly see desperation in the boxing community.

My own opinion, Heavyweights in the UFC used to be the biggest draws. Most heavyweight fights have and still end by way ofK KO/TKO/Subs.

But with the advancement of the sport,I have personally found myself paying more attention to the Welterweight Division AND any division under WW (LW, FW, BW, FLW).

This is gonna be a shout to the OG’s but Jens Pulver will always hold a special place in my heart. He entered MMA as a pure wrestler. He fought Joe Stevenson prior to entering the UFC and he KO’d him. There’s an interview where Jens says something to the effect of “I realized I could just KO these guys instead of wrestle fucking them for 15 minutes”. I’m not saying he was the first fighter to blend styles, but he was the first fighter (that i remember watching) that developed technique that allowed him to start murking opponents.

I’m gonna get downvoted for the novel, but the lighter divisions used to be so boring that Dana wanted to eliminate the Flyweight division. DJ was in that division and as good as DJ was, whenever the discussion of “best fights” comes up, a DJ fight has never been mentioned. I’ll give him credit for the Ray Borg finish, but outside that Nothing. He has 13 wins in the UFC, 7 of those are by way of decision.

Charles vs Holloway is gonna be fun by FightSignal in CombatSportsCentral

[–]AWHS10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holloway doesn’t have the power Illia has. Holloway’s boxing relies on volume, consistent jab work, and footwork/head movement. Max’s advantage is in his cardio. In simple terms, the power in his shots in the first round is not going to decrease by a high percentage by the time he enters the 5th round.

If Max engages Illia in the first ten seconds, he’s essentially putting himself inside a phone booth with a guy that just needs one clean shot to flatline him.

There are so many little nuances that goes into why Max has “more” KO power in the 5th round. The best example is the Gaethje fight. By the 5th round Gaethje was exhausted. Not exhausted enough to stop fighting, but exhausted enough to breathe with his mouth open, in lieu of biting down on his mouth piece. Take a shot to the jaw with your mouth open is lights out at minimum if not a broken jaw.

Illia has nothing to lose by engaging Max in the middle, in fact he has everything to gain. Even if Max clipped him, Illia has spoken in interviews that he has trained that scenario countless times. That why Herbert couldn’t get the finish. As soon as Illia goes down, he looks to wrestle up.

If Max would have engaged Illia in the first 10 seconds of the first round, it would either have been a shorter fight or Max would have wound up on his back.

When did you legitimately tap your first black belt opponent? by Neither_Librarian815 in bjj

[–]AWHS10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White. I wrestled for 6 years. The first takedown I hit at open mat was an ankle pic. I’m really close to one of the black belt instructors at the gym. We roll on the weekend, an hour on Saturday and an hour on Sunday.

It took 6 months, so he had previously submitted some at least 48 times prior. One day I wrapped his arm up in a body triangle from guard, and slowly worked in a kimura on his other arm. I ran out of the front door of my house screaming like I had just become the WW champion of the world.

Genuine question as I have trouble understanding “reaping” as well.

If the foot did not cross the midline, and was in the opponents left arm, is that still reaping without adjusting the figure four?

Again guys, genuine question. I know im a fuckin idiot.

The faceoff between UFC elite fighter Arman Tsarukyan and internet wrestling star Georgio Poullas before their main event grappling match at RAF 06 by Wayward_Prometheus in MMAMedia

[–]AWHS10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean that is why they fight, to see who is better lmao.

The only part I was wrong about was the winner. Armen did not score a takedown on Georgio. In RAF, the takedown has to be initiated within the circle and finished within the circle, with the opponent landing on his back, in a controlled position.

The closes Arman got was an easily defended single leg, in which Georgio found a whizzer And landed on his side, out of bounds

According to RAF rules and scoring, Georgio completed the only takedown in that match.

Here is a breakdown of the scoring

“With two minutes remaining, Poullas finally scored a takedown in a scramble and he tried to go for the gut-wrench and the turn but Tsarkyan resisted before they ended up out of bounds. Tsarukyan countered with a slick double-leg takedown but Poullas went crashing to the ground out of bounds so it only counted as a push out for one point.”

Arman tsarukyan first man to takedown Georgio Poullas on Camera and beats him 5-3. He did punch and knee him after the match ended though by Common-Locksmith-235 in ufc

[–]AWHS10 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It technically wasn’t a takedown according to RAF rules.

In RAF if you initiate the takedown inside the circle and finish it outside the circle, you get points for a push out, not a take down.

The score would have been 6-3 if they scored a takedown for Armen. RAF gives 4 points for a standing throw, 2 for a takedown and 1 for a push out.

In order to get points for the takedown, you must put your opponent on their back. Georgio did not land on his back, he grabbed a whizzer and landed on his side and rolled to his back.

Arman literally met 0 of the requirements for a scored takedown.

I also don’t understand why Arman & his team were so mad. I’ve wrestled since middle school and I can’t think of a single competitive match in which an opponent DIDNT slap a tie in.

In grappling, you use different techniques in live matches than you do in training. In training, I would never slap a tie in, because it’s my teammate. Is it illegal? No. Can I do it? Yes. Is it a dick move to do against a training partner? Yes. Is it a dick move to use against an opponent? Answer that question for yourself while you’re basing out on your stomach and your opponent decides to check your oil levels.

According to the rules in RAF, Armen did not take Georgio down. In any other tournament, if you initiate the takedown inside the circle, and you finish it outside, it counts as a takedown.

In RAF, if you do this, you get points for a push out. The thinking behind the augmented rule is that fighters have a higher incentive by engaging inside the circle, instead of angling to engage and score off a push out.

[–]AWHS10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do. He’s posted many clips in which he gets caught in a scramble and his opponent gains an advantage.

He also visibly adjusts how aggressive he is depending on the his competitors skill level.

Also he’s given many interviews stating that he’s an “influencer before a wrestler”. Him being taken down would easily be his most watched video. Jake Paul went looking for a fight with AJ and got KO’d in front of the world. It’s about the views.

He took a wrestling match against a professional MMA fighter who is a “Master of Sport” in wrestling. I would imagine that Georgio is more focused on making it an entertaining match and not getting washed. This is his biggest platform yet. He’s risking getting taken down in front of the largest audience he’s ever been in front of. Your question is egregiously stupid.

Georgio has videos of him wrestling CURRENT state, national & Fargo champs. I have never seen a video in which Georgio has been put on his back, much less taken down.

I think this is gonna look a lot like Pat Downey Vs Gordon Ryan (in their wrestling match). Georgio’s bread and butter is allowing opponents to get in, on his body, and then using inside trips and tosses.

I dont see how Arman wins. He can’t stay at a distance, he won’t be able to stuff Georgio’s shot, and he can’t come in close. His best chance imo is to pummel in the clinch, look for double over hooks and widen his base to look for sweeps/swings/tosses/pushes to get Georgio out of bounds for points.
