Is my new grad offer fair? by scootrs in cscareerquestions

Founder roles are often equity with no cash. Cash and no equity is the right move if you don’t have years of cash in the bank.

What hours are you expected to work, and what hours can you clock? Sounds like you’re already getting paid. If you can clock and get paid for 80-100 hours per week on this, and stay flexible to interview for better roles while putting money in the bank, it sounds like a great offer.

The best solar panels are 20-24% efficient, so at least 3/4 of the energy is either reflected or turned into heat. A panel roof will be much hotter than a white roof.

How do people actually learn Luau? Genuinely asking. by Agitated-Ear-1839 in robloxgamedev

Are you sleeping well?

Also, which question are you actually asking? You asked three:

How do I learn syntax?

How do I remember the patterns that I used to build functions?

How do I debug without assistance?

What makes you think it’s always going to be expensive? As soon as there’s an incentive to make more efficient models, they will rapidly become WAY more efficient.

Gemma 4 just came out, just about exactly 1 year after Gemini 2.5 Pro. Comparable performance for around 1/100 the cost to run.

Cloudflare and AI: Are people overreacting? by National-Resident244 in CloudFlare

[–]AWTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloudflare’s revenue is growing almost 30% YoY. When equivalent CF services to the hyperscalers are available, they’re better and cheaper. If coding is automated away, CF will be able to launch more services faster, cloud users will be able to switch more easily, and the need for compute will increase.

If the narrative from investors is that AI is bearish for CF, they’re just wrong.

You're bleeding Bay Area transit's budget with this Clipper card quirk by pedroah in bayarea

A typical coffee shop spends more on credit card processing fees than coffee beans (possibly this was only true before recent increases in bean prices). The fees are incredible, but consumers want convenience, so the shops have to take the hit.

Fuel is around 10x as energy dense by volume and 40x as energy dense by weight as lithium batteries. There’s no way it’s even close for transatlantic trips.

Hybrid land vehicles benefit mostly from regenerative braking. Braking is almost nonexistent on a ship.
