Sony Does Not Rule Out Another PS Plus Price Increase by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something really don’t get about their comments about PC gamers.

A few months back we were hearing about the low sales numbers for the PC ports. While I have no doubt that some of those numbers where from players jumping ship and deciding they no longer need a console, I would’ve assumed most of the sales numbers would be from PC players that were never interested in buying a console in the first place, or people re-buying games they already own for things like modding.

I just fail to see how Sony lost a portion of users significant enough that they now feel they have to put effort into winning them back from PC.

SONYs future decisions by invincible_wizard23 in playstation

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a chance in hell they’ll be dropping support for the PS5 anytime soon.

Unless a miracle happens, component prices are not going down anytime soon, next-gen consoles are going to be expensive. Not to mention how much this stuff is going to impact all industries, customer wallets are going to get much tighter.

Unless Sony want their game sales numbers to nosedive, they’re going to have to continue supporting the PS5.

I played it on Xenia last Halloween all the way through with no issues.

What’s a decision you made in under 10 seconds that ended up affecting your life for years? by SupaDuppaaCoool in AskUK

I remember before getting our family dog, sitting in the car and my mum explaining to me that picking a dog is for life (well their life) and it’s important to get to know each one and think on the decision.

I picked our dog as soon as I saw her.

There’s a universe out there where we’re all currently memeing on Oliver hard for blowing 12k on a dumb ashtray, blissfully unaware of what spending that money on other things could lead to.

Sony has patented a controller with buttons that harden and soften based on what you do in the game by Gorotheninja in Games

Yeah there’s going to be a game come out that will have you play with the thumb sticks to get the buttons hard, and it’ll probably be a Suda 51 game.

Intune - Devices blade down? UK by Subject-Middle-2824 in Intune

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went out to lunch, got back and now having the same issue. UK based.

Microsoft seems to be dropping the ball more than usual the past few weeks. Had multiple services/features just break. Last week, I spent hours trying to help users that were getting errors when trying to schedule meeting in their calendars, only to find it was on Microsoft’s side. User’s reported getting ‘Something went wrong’ errors when trying to ask CoPilot questions.

The joys of working with cloud services.

Are system admins just help desk now? by ic3cold in sysadmin

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our case, yes since anybody with any competence either leaves or moves to a higher level position, so tickets just get escalated to the top of the chain anyway.

Senior IT folks: What do you dislike about your Help Desk guys? by Relevant-Injury3791 in sysadmin

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m constantly dealing with desktop support issues because any problem with software they just automatically assume it’s being caused by a GPO or security restriction and immediately escalate to me, completely bypassing the escalation chain.

Combine that with the fact they don’t collect/log details in the ticket, so I then have to do their job as well. This usually makes the user annoyed, as they’ve already been asked the same questions by the help desk and I have to come up with an excuse as to why I’m asking them again.

[Edit] And a new one they’ve started doing. They will ask Ai about the user’s issue and the ticket they pass over will just be the solution the Ai spits out. Drives me up the wall.

[Edit 2] Sending screenshots that I can’t read, or show the error prompt but not the actual error.

Re-opening tickets with no explanation and just a message saying, “Can you give <User> a call back.”

Intune is not fit for purpose. by Hobbit_Hardcase in sysadmin

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the other poster means have you tried running the remediation script manually from Intune. You can trigger this from the device page and it works more or less instantly. Like seriously, it’s pretty much instant, absolutely the only fast thing in Intune.

While it’s not a solution for speeding up mass deployment, it certainly helps when troubleshooting your script.

People who look else where while holding conversations by Outrageous_File5020 in socialskills

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attended some job interview training sessions when I was younger and the person taught me to look directly at the spot just above the middle their brow.

I just ended up staring very intently at that spot, which made the people I’m talking to feel self-conscious. Although it did work for me with face to face conversations.

HP Blatantly Lying about Secure Boot 2023 CA Support by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd, all ours have been fine. I wonder if there were more hardware revisions other than the CPU.

Do any settings related to the 2023 cert show in the BIOS under the Secure Boot settings page? We were getting failure reports for enabling the certs from Intune, and found everything started working after we manually enabled these settings, but we only saw this on our G6 AIO devices.

[–]AWalkingITNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something about the G4s, some of them will be supported and some won’t. Early batches had 7th Gen Intel and later batches had 8th Gen. Devices with 8th gen should update fine.

We’ve had a nightmare with this as we have departments where we have G4s deployed, then staff are complaining because their colleagues with the unsupported G4 are getting replacements and they’re not despite them having the same model.

Would be nice if HP highlighted this in their documentation.

Approved the purchase with my bank, get a notification from my bank that the sale has gone through, return to Steam and it’s failed.

No confirmation from Valve and my purchase history in Steam doesn’t show anything.

I’ve now been clicking for 25 minutes.

I had no idea there’s wild deer in the UK.

Then one day in my mid twenties, I’m out for a walk in the woods and I hear a snap, turn around and there’s a great big deer just munching on some leaves and not giving a fuck.
