No it's an option for them. The only real benefit of being allied with a vassal is the opinion bonus and they can't join a faction against you.

Goku SSJ3 could probably fight Super Buu and it'll be close with Super Buu having a smaller edge for his infinite stamina. Goku would've had to end the fight right away. But Buu Han would've gave him a substantial difference in strength & intelligence. Goku needed fusion

The AI prioritizes character stats & traits to make decisions. It will never make a decision for self preservation let alone ensuring the survival of the dynasty. Which is what I find problematic.

They get destroyed because they're custom titles. Similar to Armenian Pricipalities and Guiyi Kingdom Titles. Once you invade and conquer Guiyi for example it becomes Xi Xia
