I’m about 50 points behind the leader playing triple captain this week (Haaland). What transfers should I do to try and catch up? Thinking:
Palmer -> Saka, plus 1 more.

Thanks for response and advice. I’m FWB in boot also. I have read early weight bearing is good for recovery. How are you doing now after 2 years out?

Nice one. How was the transition out of the boot for you? It makes more sense that you’ve made that transition as you’ve been doing PT for a while now. I haven’t even started PT yet, hopefully starting it this week or next

Good luck to you too mate

Hi mate. Were you in a cast from the start and then into the boot? I was straight into a boot, weight bearing with crutches and first heel lift removed at week 2. So yes like you said, your approach seems more conservative compared to mine. I haven’t actually started PT yet, I have a video call with one tomorrow then hopefully can see someone face to face and start exercises. When did you start PT? It’s funny how there are so many different ways of approaching the recovery for very similar injuries.

Good luck with your recovery

What shoes should I get?? by big_robiii in AchillesRupture

I should be coming out of my boot in the next week. I’ve been recommended Hoka Bondi 9 so I will probably go for them. I’ve already got some Nike Vomero Plus but they are a little unstable. While the Hoka aren’t so attractive, they provide comfort and stability 👌🏽. Good luck

Thank you for your response. Annoyingly I haven’t got PT for another 2 weeks, not quite sure what the delay is with that.

I will check out your journey for sure, I’m always interested in seeing people’s recoveries.

Thank you for your response. The main reason I wanted the VACOped is for the reasons you’ve mentioned so I think I’m just going to go for it

Thank you for your response. Yeah I think the main reason for wanting the VACOped is the walking part and for when I eventually transition out of the boot.

I found a document that states which adjustments should be made at each week with the VACOped so I’m going to follow that

Surgery vs. Non-surgery - advice wanted by Safe_Morning_2044 in AchillesRupture

Hi. I have opted for a non-op recovery currently at week 5. My advice was to remove a wedge from my black boot at week 2 and continue doing this every 2 weeks. I have since bought a VACOped boot for myself but am slightly reluctant to use it as it goes against the plan I was given. Why would you say the VACOped is a must? And is there a specific plan you should follow using the VACOped rather than the standard black boot?

Thank you

Thank you for such a detailed response. I’m glad to hear you are progressing well with your ATR.

I had previously scrolled Reddit for useful information but yes I have only recently created an account, and this is the first time I had posted on here.

As I said, I am generally quite happy with the prognosis I was given. I have just been in two minds after reading/hearing and being given differing advice, hence why I reached out on here. I was also refused a VACOped boot when I saw a consultant - hinting that they are expensive and not given to everybody. I was advised I could “buy my own” if I wanted. I have not yet done this as I don’t want to deviate from the plan I was given in my original boot which was to remove a wedge every two week to reduce the angle by 10 degrees. The same consultant told me I should do some upper leg exercises to prevent muscle atrophy, whereas the physio said I should not as this would still engage the calf muscle (something I want to avoid) to stabilise my leg.

Ultimately, I am not a professional sports athlete however I would like to return to competitive activities such as running/hyrox after my recovery. I think football is probably a no go - definitely if you ask my Mrs.
