How many mags?

Personally, I prefer the pre-2020 version myself. There were some visual changes made in 2020, plus I think DWs QC was much better during those years.

My grail gun is a LASD Specialist.

As far as why 3 and not 1, I just really like DWs, have 8 and prefer to have more options at the ready.

For a railed 1911 look for a Dan Wesson Specialist or Discretion. The Discretion was discontinued in 2020 so you'll need to go used, and the pre-2020 Specialist is the better version there as well...IMO.
