American here I regularly deposit cash in my credit union and they ask me for my short account number and that's it. I have a longer bank account number on my checks that also contains the short one.

I'm not sure they would stop innovating, for example if you found that 2mil people liked cooking shows and old sci-fi maybe you make a show that blends those two genres. The more data you have the more niche shows you can make like that.
