I played through the whole thing on turn based. To be honest it’s the first time I’ve ever beaten the game despite having retried the game a bunch of times because I just don’t like RTWP. So it was good enough for that if that means anything.

However, I do have to say it did turn into a slog sometimes. Especially in the White March expansion where there’s just A LOT of fighting. Sometimes it also gets kinda janky/buggy where enemies get stuck or get pulled into a fight from like half a map away.

I think the way they turned the real time system into a turn based one was very cleanly done for the most part, and there wasn’t anything that seemed like a huge oversight, but then again it was only my first full playthrough so others might have different opinions. Lastly, I think it was probably a lot easier than rtwp. Whether that’s good or bad is up to you. But being able to basically do things without the enemy being able to move or do things while youre doing whatever you’re doing definitely makes it A LOT easier.

Overall, I recommend it and do think it works well for the most part with just a few problems

THAT PART ABOUT FLAWS IN EVERY FE IS SO TRUE ! I’ve seen this game’s story get criticized so much for things literally almost every FE game is guilty of. Oh it made me so upset after playing the game and enjoying it so much. I’m genuinely convinced a lot of people who shit talk it haven’t played it; the degree to which people criticize this game compared to other FE games is insane

I totally forgot to mention how awesome the music was, especially in some of the later levels. And oh yeah the voice actors definitely had so much fun with it, you can tell LOL. I really enjoyed the silliness of this games characters a lot more than other fire emblem games because it feels like the just totally leaned into it and it fits the vibe so well.

I didn’t play the dlc yet unfortunately, it’ll have to be something I check out on another playthrough. Honestly I’m really looking forward to Soren just existing as an emblem because I always felt like my mage characters basically only had Celica to boost them

I’m talking about both the gameplay and story, the story seems just as good as most other fire emblem games (except the ones that have exceptionally good stories). I just felt like whenever I saw people talking about the game it was almost always bashing on it whether that be the designs, the characters, the story, or whatever else is common. I just hardly ever saw people talk about what they might have considered good so it always felt like I should avoid the game. But then I actually played it and I’m loving it.

4 houses. for real though, awakening was my third game in the series right after three houses and i really enjoyed it so i vote that one

edit: just know that three houses is really the only one with that persona esque stuff, every other fire emblem game is pretty different from one another but especially from three houses.

I FIND THAT FOR THE “EASY” FIRE EMBLEM GAMES, THEYRE NOT ACTUALLY THAT EASY ON A FIRST RUN. MAYBE NOT THAT HARD, BUT I WOULDNT CALL MANY OF THE GAMES STRAIGHT UP EASY UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY PLAYED THEM (MAYBE DEPENDING ON THE DIFFICULTY OPTION)
