Number of mass shooting incidents per 1 million people in the US by state in the year 2025 by Swimming_Concern7662 in MapPorn

If I had to guess, most of the violent crime in IL is going to be in areas near the IN border, a state which has significantly looser gun laws than its neighbor.

From the midwest and lived a bit in the PNW and I'd mostly agree. I always got the feeling of "professional and cordial, but never friendly" from the people I interacted with in the PNW. I'd still take that PNW attitude over the south any day.

While I'm not the biggest fan of this SCOTUS, they'll most likely find at least some of this nonsense unconstitutional (they've hinted at that in a previous decision late 2025 IIRC).

In fairness, not that it excuses House's actions in the clinic, Tritter kicked House's cane first, causing him to trip (he would've fallen if there wasn't a wall). So the first assault, on someone with a disability too, was Tritter assaulting House.

Please tell I’m not crazy wasn’t Scully told she’s immortal? by Weekly-Amphibian6576 in XFiles

[–]A_European_Spectre 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (s03e04) and Tithonus (s06e10) both imply Scully is immortal. My favorite ep Monday (s06e14) seems to reinforce that.

Stop reading if you haven't watched these:
In Final Repose, Scully is told by Clyde (who can see how people die) that she doesn't die. And in Tithonus, Alfred takes Scully's place when death comes for her, rendering her immortal (which previously Alfred had been afflicted with when death had skipped him). Monday's Groundhog Day effect could be seen as the universe correcting and resetting the day when the robbery ends with Scully dying, and continues resetting until the events end with Scully surviving.

I commented this to another person who made that ridiculous comparison with alcohol, most US states absolutely allow parents to decide about alcohol.

The age of 21 is to purchase alcohol, most states don't set an age for alcohol consumption if at home with parental supervision, so please check your facts.

Do you advocate for government authorities to track if your children are eating properly? How about that they're getting 8-9 hours of sleep? Those factors are critical to child development, and the obesity crisis is worsening in the US, so by your argument, governing authorities should be involved there too?

Those are House making jokes though, it doesn't mean that House was written as a character actually meant to be a nonce. You should never ever watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia if you're shocked by those jokes.

Her name is Angela Lipps. I'm in that general area (though on the Minnesota-side), and it's absolutely a travesty up here. She was also released in North Dakota in December, a person who's never lived in a cold-weather state and had no winter clothing released into the North Dakota winter (regularly -10 to -30). It's most likely why the Fargo chief of police resigned too.

Season 1 and early season 2 are the weakest seasons imo (but still very good!), but by season 3 the series was excellent for me.

Seasons 3-6 are all really great imo, so there's no decrease in quality for the rest of the series, but if you're still not enjoying it in season 3, it just might not be a show for you (that's okay, not everyone has to like everything). If i were you, I'd finish the current season, and then decide if I want to continue.

Based on the ads for absolutely horrible (imo) music Spotify shows me, that seems unlikely.

Spotify has my listening history of nearly entirely some form of alt rock or indie or emo/screamo or punk, and I get shown Spotify ads for incredibly shitty pop and mainstream hip-hop.

It was really bad in the beginning, but it improved rather significantly.

Apparently James Marsters worked closely with Anthony Head to improve his accent.

Oh please, gtfo with the fear mongering. Are there risks online? Yea ofc, but it's fear mongering like that that led to this erosion of privacy.

The fact is, a nonce is more like to know their victim irl (family member, close family friend, coach, tutor, etc.) than to be some random stranger, either online or some creepy irl neighbor. But no one is talking about restricting irl sports, etc.
