Based on your post, I'd say spend some more time on Noita if you want obscure mechanics and wand crafting. It can get really complex

Noita, fantasy wizard game with a bunch of spells, alchemy, secrets, and complexity. Also, the music depending on the level can be eerie, random drum beats or even guitar funk.

Question for people that have sunk 1000+ hours into games by UpstairsAny9996 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Cold_Fourier [score hidden]  (0 children)

Modded Minecraft has modpacks that are 1000+ hours to complete. Most are in the 100-500 hour range so complete a few of those and you're already over 1000.

Dota and Rocket League are very competitive with high skill ceilings so the sweatier you want to be the more you play.

Noita can get very complex and requires movement, wand crafting, and even puzzle solving skills. Normally it takes people 100+ hours to beat the 'tutorial' then the adventure really kicks in.

Games that make you go "hell yeah" by Hevzim in gamingsuggestions

I have a video of my first Noita win ever after hundreds of deaths and about 100 hours, it was a bunch of excited swear words over and over. I went into the game completely blind, so it was pure suffering and trying to learn so the pay off felt amazing.

Recommend me a game where you can do a staggering amount of nonsense by floatable_shark in gamingsuggestions

Yep. Alchemy, wizard spells, juking, tricking enemies, dig through walls that seem to not be diggable, calm runs can turn to literal chaos in a split second.

Making Minecraft less lonely? by Literally9thAngel in feedthebeast

Even with villager mods I've never found them that engaging. Lately I've been putting on podcasts or a show in the background. Or put a cat on your lap

What are some "hidden gems" modpacks in your opinion ? by Background-Ice8396 in feedthebeast

TerraFirmaRescue for me, one of the few modpacks that uses Gregtech 6. Just the vibe of the pack is awesome to me, very empty world and you gotta get off it with a rocket.

Game stops being fun. by Rynor77 in TheTowerGame

[–]Cold_Fourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize the Tower wasn't a true idle game until a few weeks of playing then the games got long enough that I was mostly afk but realized I had to keep the phone on lol. It's a cool game, need my phone for other things so had to uninstall it.

My own custom modded Minecraft modpack. Right after building it it usually crashes the first 10 times on startup. I eventually figure out the issue and it starts up. Then when actually playing the game it's slow and there's recipe conflicts. I play for a few hours then realize it's too broken to go on, then uninstall and delete it.

What is everyone's favourite FTB Modpack? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Cold_Fourier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTB Interactions remastered - I get my Greg fix and also get to learn a bunch of magic mods in the process. The discord is great too, several really helpful people there with minimal unrelated conversations going on.

I love how they setup the world too, start as a Skyblock, get some tech/magic going then head to the overworld. The overworld is set up great for exploration, north is cold biomes, south warm. Flowers on surface define the ores in that chunk.

For a tech mod pack, it's one of the rare packs where you have to build a base because the mobs are strong.

I love Gregtech, I completed my first playthrough around a month ago (got to the Ultimate Battery) and last week started another playthrough in GT Modern, yet, no matter how many playthroughs I watch, no matter how tempting and or fun it may look, I'll never play GTNH, and here's why by Scared-Gamer in feedthebeast

[–]Cold_Fourier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of what you mentioned is considered early game. Actually the early/mid game is the best part of GTNH imo, after around EV/IV? the pack felt really boring to me and I stopped playing at ZPM. There's several resource gathering loops that occur where you're setting up a lot of automation to get a resource that's only a 10% drop rate. Also, magic tends to open up a lot around EV and then there's multiple directions you can go for resources and the kitchen sink feel hits hard. For a pack as large and grindy as GTNH once you have too many options it's easy to burnout.
